Can anyone tell me their playing experience with the Yonex RDS 001 MP? I'm currently purchasing it and I wanted to be sure I would be suited for it.

I'm currently using a babolat pure drive cortex standard. I'm a 3.5-4.0 player with a semi western forehand and two handed backhand. I hit with a moderate amount of topspin and look for winners off of angles. I'm looking for more power and topspin to my game but something that is not too hefty or will slow down my swing.

Let me know what you think about the Yonex RDS 001 MP.

I doubt the RDS 001 MP will slow down your swing. It has nice topspin and decent control to go with that. Serves better than most of the recent Yonex offerings. The static weight and the SW are not too difficult to handle.

While I don't believe the RDS001mp is going to slow down your swing or lose much topspin in comparison, there is NO way it is going to give you more power than your Pure Drive. Maybe something like the RDS002 (non tour) if it is to be a Yonex or a Prince SpeedPort Black would provide what you are looking for.

^^ I agree with counterpuncher.

If you're looking for more power than a Pure Drive, the RDS001 MP is definitely not the way to go.

To be honest, the Pure Drive is probably at the top of the market in terms of power and topspin in regards to players and tweener frames. So I'm not quite sure you'll find something with a similar or higher weight that's more powerful than the Pure Drive.

You might want to try a bigger head size and/or a looser string tension. I know there's a 107 Pure Drive OS which should definitely add some pop. The Prince O3 and Speedport lines are something you might want to consider as well. The aerodynamic design allows for more racket head speed and racket head speed does correlate with more pace and spin.

...on a somewhat related note, has anyone had a chance to compare the 2008 iteration of the RDS001 MP with the former RDS001 MP?

Last I heard, a few RDS001 MP'ers had ordered the '08 version, not sure if anyone has posted a review yet.

I think you will love it, i have the same kind of game you have and i dont think ill ever change it, about the power, you may have to change your swing to use more of the racket´s weight to make power, if you can swing it as fast as you swing your PD you will get plenty of power. Also, eventhough their stiffness is close in numbers the RDS001 doesnt feel that stiff. An finally it is less forgiving than your PD but much more rewarding if you hit the ball where you are supposed to.
