    Permission to speak, Sir!

Ok... if you are the "Prez" you will need a second in command. Plus a whole litany of underlings... you and #2 will need to address the club and give a State of the Yonex Forum speech... man you got a lot of work ahead of yah. It's not easy being in charge. With great power comes great responsibility!

Good luck, may the force be with you! oh, that was bad!

This is how i used to set up my Pro Staff's. Leather with overgrip. You can't go wrong.

I now use the Head SofTak as the base grip. It wraps really good, the blue ones have a nice visible line to follow so you don't "over" wrap each turn. Plus, if wrapped just right you can still get a good feel for the handle and does not compromise the grip shape... then i use the SG.

jc, I might give that a try. I just checked my bag and have a brand new roll of Head SoftTac from when I hit LM Radicals. Can't hurt to try before I wrap my leather on.

Ok - as slightly different as it is having a Yonex Club ;), I'll join, hell, it's free!

I've been using Yonex since 1998 or thereabouts. A few different models, always MP. Currently it's a leaded-up MP-Tour, and yes, I'm thinking of an RDS 001. I have a mate who has one in the Mid, and I enjoy hitting with it.

That said, the next purchase I'm committing to demo-ing a wide variety of frames, so there's no guarantee I'll be sticking with Yonex.

Oh - for the record, if the RQS 11 were about half the price :), I'd love to buy one and use it as an experimental frame, lots of lead options, try playing with a much lighter frame, etc etc....

I also have a FXP Radical, it has the Hydro-srob base grip... which is actually ok for me with the overwrap... the SofTac doesn't seem as "gushy" as the Hydro.

Definitely give it a try... i always used to hate screwing up a nice leather grip. as a matter of fact i would never grip my own when it came to leather... i don't know why, just intimidated i guess.

Welcome Orange! The only requirement for this club (unlike other clubs) is share your love for Yonex. I believe this group will be able to assist others in providing information on how Yonex racquets play. I know that trying to decide what racquet to try & buy can be a nightmare with all of the companies and different models, but hopefully we will lend a helping hand in making the decision as painless as possible.

    Thanks ;)

Right now it's all out the long end (it was setup by my MRT for me). I do enjoy a racquet that carries some punch, and right now it does, great for big serves and big groundies set up the way it is. BUT I've been meaning to try more of a polarised setup for some time, see what the enhanced stability is like. I just need to make the time to read travelerajm's writings and test out a setup along those lines.

As for the 001 Mid - very sweet racquet. Mate's frame also has some lead in a similar spot to mine, and I must say I barely notice the frame-difference when hitting with his frame, which is impressive going from a MP to a Mid. I'll hit again and report more....

Thanks - and now that I re-read the list...hmmm, let's just hope one particular member tames his ridiculously-stupid-repetitive-spamming-posts, in this thread at least! :)

Hi, I just bought a RDS 001MP and it is ace, I was hitting some fantasic shots especially my backhands. The best thing about it is my serve, it has improved x10. I am buying another one tommorow and am going to wrap both with a leather grip.

But I can't find any dampeners for the RDS 001, does anyone know where you can find them?

p.s. Can I join the club?

can somebody compare the RDS MP and RDS mid? I'm using the RDS MP but thinking about switching to the Mid. Also, I think the club thing is a bit weird!

An rds 001 mid user here. A very sweet playing racket that rewards those who aren't lazy with footwork and early racket prep.
How low r u guys going with tension? I'm presently at 54 mains(power rough and 52 TF biophase 17). Considering going down to 48 - 50 ? Anyone out there going low? I'm semi-western both sides. I've heard Fed strings low too.

nick, there are some nice threads about the science behind lower tensions on the boards... some that dispell the myths about control and power issues... if i can find the threads i will link them, but they are recent threads. And there threads that have posted Fed's specs. His tension is low. If you are an early prep guy and have above average technique, loering your tension should not cause any problems... for me i'm stuck, i can't change... i think it's all in my head!:-o

Thanxs, JCT - I'll do a search right now. It's always difficult to change what you've gotten used to. I'll be sure to post when I try out the lower tension.

I love my RDX 500 MP, best racquet I have ever owned. It does everything perfect for me. I love being able to just step into the court, and nail the ball really hard and it will just drop right into the court.

I can't see me changing racquets for a long time, except maybe to try out an RDS 001 MP.

smart as a tack, you are!... the first time i tried the rdx 500 mp, i noticed the top spin was awesome... since then i have changed the way i grip my racquet... more western. And like you said, you smack the heck out of the ball, with tons of spin and watch the sucker go right in!

Yeah true.. Yonex is a pretty big brand nowadays.. Getting bigger and bigger everyday. The only reason you guy's are gonna get bigger is cause your focused on the whole Yonex brand we just got the M-Fil 300 *sigh*, haha.. JP.

But yeah, seems like a great club and nice thread. Your club is going to get pretty big that's for sure, Yonex is getting huge.

The M300 club seems like it's going down :(. Barely any posting in there anymore. LOl.

Yeah, i think Jon is on vaca or out of his country for the week! And Red is probably sipping margaritas until Jon comes back... ;)

U R right, we cover the whole brand.. a little unfair. Ther has been some talk about making seperate threads (if they do not exist already)... but the thread marque has some eye appeal, especially for Yonex owners! Smart marketing on the club's Prez's behalf!:p

Haha yeah, that is pretty smart. Jon is in Singapore I believe, I was emailing him like 2 days ago about getting me some SPPP haha but, I decided to get some Kirschbaum Super Smash instead.

You mean separate threads for the Yonex? Lol.. That would be too crazy.

Well RAFA.. That is when personal preference comes in. I haven't tried Yonex before but, I don't think I really need to try it. Why? Because Dunlop is doing great for me :).. I love Dunlop.

Do any of you other yonex users by any chance have an old RDX 500 MP you are willing to sell to me. I broke one of mine and having only 1 racquet is really rough.

Hey guys, Welcome to the Yonex Club! The only thing I ask is please be respectful of others and the brands they may use. This club is strictly for educating the masses of the experiences we have had with our Yonex Racquets. I am happy to be the Prez of such a fine group, and I'm sure V.P. jcstennis feels the same.

I really need to tell YONEX that they should make the RQS-11 little bit stiffer like stiffness index of 68 or so, right now it is 65 i believe, with same exact specs on everything else. Can this be done?? Please Yonex please do this....

Have you tried contacting them by email? It never hurts to let them hear from the consumer. Maybe if enough people on these boards ask them, you never know!!
