I've been trying out a couple of Red Yonex Ti-70 98's recently , in order to try out an 18x20 pattern racquet for the first time. So far, I love this racquet...one of the best I've tried with specs in this ballpark. It did need a touch of lead in the hoop (I put 3 grams at about 3 and 9, where the "ips" marks are), but now it's really letting me flatten out my classic eastern FH strokes with great precision. I do have a couple of questions for those of you who have any experience with this racquet : 1. One of the Ti-70 's I have says simply "Ti-70" , while the other one says "Ti-70 Long". They both seem to be 27.5" though. ON the TW racquet database, there doesn't seem to be listings for 2 separate versions, so I'm just wondering if anyone knows if Yonex just had a couple different runs of these, some with "Long" written on it and some without? 2. If anyone has any experience with leading these things up, what have ou found to be some good configurations? 3. What string types and tensions have people found to work well in these? Right now I have Prince S.G. w/ Duraflex 17 at 58 lbs. in it as a "control" or "default". It's not bad, but it feels a tad stiff.....but control is excellent. 4. What weights have your Ti-70's come in at, realtive to grip size? Both of my 4 3/8 ones are coming in under 12 oz., unmodified. I have to say that this tight string pattern is a revelation...I've been using 16x19 patterns at either 98" or 100" for a while now, and have found it hard to flatten out my strokes without hitting a little longer than I'd like....also I feel that I have a little better directional control as well and just a generally mreo consistent feeling stringbed. And since I have good technique with my topspin on both groundies and serves, I can still get pretty good kick on the ball when I try to add more spin.
