    Hey TW,
I got an email about Stan's racquet (Yonex V-Core Tour G) being released soon. By any chance, do you guys have a date? Thanks!

    neversaydienadalfan,

We don't have an official launch date yet. Last we heard the launch date was in March some time. We have a call in to our Yonex representative to see if we can get a concrete date.

    Hi Brittany
Have you guys got your sample frames yet of the Tour G and if so when do you think a review will be coming?

    lefty100,

We just got our samples yesterday. We will probably start hitting with the frames next week because they have to go through an imaging/video process first. However, a good portion of the playtest team will be out of the office (and at Indian Wells for the BNP) for a week and a half so we might not get to hit with it for 2 weeks. We will start playtesting them and expect a review towards the middle of April.

Critical question for you Brittany .... will the "TW" temporary tattoos be available at the TW Indian Wells tent again? :)

I looked pretty tough rocking (Chris-inspired verb) one of those last year!

... ok back to Yonex Tour G talk ....

There could be a chance the Yonex VCORE Tour G might be available to demo/buy at the TW tent at the BNP Paribas Open.

As far as TW tattoos go, I am not sure if we will have them again this year. I will let you know ASAP when I find out.

UPDATE: They will have tattoos in the tent this year!

Just talked to our buyer -- it looks like we are getting our lot delivered very soon, so hopefully they will be there (at the TW tent) and ready to go in the next couple of days (this weekend if all goes according to plan)!

Unfortunately, the shipment hasn't arrived yet. Yonex hopes for the racquets to arrive at the tent some time this upcoming week.

Does anyone from TW know whether these new Vcores will be designed to have the Sony Sensor placed? I think it should be able to fit the buttcap area and the TW pics do not seem to allow for this option

I am asking because according to multiple news posts, the Sony sensor is reported as an accessory for the new Vcore and Ezone frames alike.

    Matchball,

It looks like our samples do not have a place for the Sony sensor on the buttcap.

    mxblink,

We just got our samples a week ago and a majority of the playtesters have been out of the office down at the BNP Paribas Open. We have just started hitting the racquets this week and the playtest will take 3-4 weeks. Video should be up in 4 weeks with the written to follow 2-3 weeks later.

    Hello TW staff. :)

I preordered a Tour G 330, and the tracking says that my racquet is ready to be shipped.
And the TW Tour G 330 Order Page denotes that all Grip Sizes of the Tour G 330 are now in stock.
But the TW Yonex page and the TW Tour G 330 page both state that the due date is March 20th.

    Can you clarify please?

    Hi Brittany,

I know the review of this racket will not be up for a while but have any of the playtesters started hitting with it and if so what are their initial thoughts?

    Thanks and all the best.

I've hit with it very briefly, but it certainly felt very solid and responsive upon the first hit. It's a little plusher feeling than the previous version as well.

I don't have much more to offer yet because I really haven't hit with it all that much, but...so far SO GOOD!

Thanks for that! And look forward to hearing more about it once you (and the others) have had a chance to play with it a bit longer.

Just curious but why all the hype for these frames? Andy, which frame did you hit with? If it was the 330 how heavy did it swing? I know the swingweight is up there.

Most of the hype in my head is that I'll play like Stan when i get the racquet.

...and I just like the promise of a flexible racquet from Yonex. And I think Yonex delivered on the promise. It's a soft, stable, flexible racquet with a lot of pop. I'm loving mine!

    Understand. :).

Which one are you swinging? Would be curious as to your thoughts if it is the 330 and if it feels sluggish. I thought the vcore tour was sluggish (heavy one).

I'm swinging the 330. For me, the racquet doesn't feel sluggish and it's quite lighter than what I thought a 12.2-ish racquet would feel like. I demoed the vct89 and 97 at the same time and stuck with the 89 because it felt more nimble. With the G, I don't feel that it's cumbersome or slow. Maybe I've strengthened my forearms by hitting with the vct89? Who knows.

Join the discussion in the Racquet section! We have a lot of good opinions floating around in there.

Andy tried the 330 grams version. The swing compared similarly to the Six.One 95.

I've gotten to hit with it a few times now. It's very solid and offers excellent feel and responsiveness. It's much more plush and traditional in its feel compared to the Ai 98. It does feel like a 97 inch, more forgiving Six.One 95.

The 330g is quite hefty, so it isn't for the feint of heart. It's very solid though and I'm enjoying the precision, feel and stability.

Don't want to give it all away though! Stay tuned for our full review in 4-6 weeks!

    4-6 weeks?

I will write my review next week and see how it compares to the GOATGerster's impressions, since I came so close to him on my ai98 review.

    That's a joke right Andy, 4-6 weeks:confused:.

Do you know when TW will offer the demos? I didn't particular like the 6.1 95 as it was a bit sluggish for me but have no issues using a Graphene Speed Pro so which version should I go with, the 310 or 330 version?

    parasailing,

Due to receiving the samples so late (a couple days before launch) and then a good portion of the playtesters being gone for almost two weeks, the playtest was a bit delayed. Currently all of the playtesters are hitting with the racquets and the video is scheduled in 2 weeks. The written will take two more weeks for editing. However, we thank you for your patience!

Demos should be available in approximately 2-3 weeks. I would recommend going with the 310 g version as the 330 will play very similar to the Six.One 95.

Brittany, I'm having a hard time choosing either the 2012 Six.One 95 BLX, that's currently on sale, and the Tour G 330.

What do you say are some differences in feel and power? What would TW testers rather choose? Thanks.

Both racquets are hefty and super solid traditional player's frames that place an emphasis on precision and feel. The Tour G is slightly more forgiving with its larger head size, making it a little easier to take big swings at the ball without fear of mishitting. It offers a little less control but a bit more power and spin. The Six.One provides a bit more precision.

Both are great racquets! I may give the slight edge to the Tour G (for me) because it's a little more forgiving, but if you like the classic feel the Six.One is a great way to go.

    Andy,

Is it just the head size difference that makes 330G less demanding ?

SW is more on 330G than 6.1 95...333 vs 327

Am I missing something here ? Thx

We like to hit with the racquet extensively using a number of different string setups so that we can conduct a thorough review of it. As for our initial thoughts, we can discuss them here during the playtest, but for our full review, we will take our time in finishing a complete, finished review. Unless...you guys would forgive us for posting an unedited review with only one type of string used during the test ;-) (just kidding).

The main reason it's less demanding is the larger head size, giving it a more forgiving sweetspot. The Isometric head shape also provides a slightly larger sweetspot as well compared to other standard shaped heads. The swingweights are pretty similar, so they feel very alike when you swing them.
