The olympics is the one tennis event where at least you get something for 2nd and 3rd place that is of some value within the context of the event. A bronze is still a MEDAL, hence you were a medal winner, a runner up plate/trophy at a slam isn't really anything great within the context of a slam.

So in an ideal situation who would get the 3 medals? I meant to ask this when the event started, but you can say you you would have liked (if they have been beaten) and/or who you want out f the remaining players. But it must be possible (so no medals for both Almagro and Murray for instance)

To make it clear - winner = gold, runner up = silver, losing semi finalists play off for bronze.

My ideal situation at the start of the tournament and still, is Federer and Djokovic in the final. Not sure who I want to win gold, I would just sit back and enjoy it. I feel it would complete Fed's resume and Novak still has one more chance maybe in Rio, but Federer had one big chance in 2004, and a half chance in 2008, so this is Djokovic's first big chance. Maybe Djokovic deserves this as Federer didn't take it in 2004.

Bronze medal would go to my 3rd favourite, Del Potro. This means he would probably have to beat Murray though which is unlikely and I'm not sure he'll even beat Ferrer who I think he plays next. I think Murray looks set for a medal this year.

Who do other people want to see win each medal?

I obviously wanted Dimitrov and Pironkova to win but since they are out, now I go with my fave player, Federer, for the gold in the mens, and don't really care for the female section anymore.
    Gold: Federer
    Silver: Djokovic
    Bronze: Del Potro

Indeed I didn't know those two were playing each other until now. I just threw down my 2 favourite players left in the tournament :) (Delpo first seeing as him winning gold is a tad more realistic than Nish)

You should watch the replay of Djokovic receiving the Bronze medal in 2008 Beijing Olympics. It was a great sight to see...

What I would like is impossible (Djoko and Murray with gold and silver), so my hopes are already dashed lol. Alternately, a gold for Murray in doubles and for Djoko in singles would be cool, except we all know it won't happen.

No question I want Federer to win the gold. I think it would be nice if Murray won the silver. Beyond that, I don't care who wins what.

Gold for Fed, Silver or Bronze for any of the remaining 3 (sitting on the fence :p).

I really like all 4 of the remaining players, but I'd really like to avoid a 2012 Wimbledon or 2010 AO final scenario where my favourite player wins but I'm more disappointed for his opponent (Murray).

Well this time Murray would be rather be happy with a Silver than a Bronze.

It not like Grand Slam where runner-up only means a good run and nothing else. A medal means something....I rather Murray win in London the biggest medal he can even if it means a loss to Federer.

I won't hear the end of Djokovic patriotic moans if he wins Gold. Hoping Djokovic either gets Bronze or 4th place.

I like all four guys and would love them all to medal. I want to see Federer get the gold to fill in one of the very few gaps in his resume, and I'd like to see Del Potro get any medal at all since he's the least likely to and also my second favorite player of the ones who are left.
