Were you in Playa del Carmen? I was there for a week to relax after I traveled around the peninsula Yucatan for 10 days in a VW Beatle (over 4000 km in 10 days) visiting all the famous Maya cities and San Christobal de las Casas in the mountains :) .....

Btw, I thought Cancun was hell.........mass tourism and resorts, BAH! I can do that in Spain too (I'm from Holland), don't want to fly for 9 hours to go sit in some resort :) ........

Hm, since I don't have any tennispics lying around, I could post one from Mexico too, just to keep some consistency here with respect to what pics we post :) ....... I don't know where to put a pic up though, I have no webpage.

    Regards,
    Maurice

You both should try faster shutter speeds, if possible. Ideally, we should be barely able to tell what model the racquet is in a photo of a swing - there should only be a slight blur of the racquet and ball. If the photo is taken before the subject hits the ball, the ball will be more clear, as it's traveling at a slower rate - whereas the ball will be less clear - and more blurry - if, all settings and conditions being equal, the photo is taken after the subject hits the ball.

Of course, this kind of thing is subjective...

I have examples of two photos I took all set to include here - but I apparently cannot simply load them from my CD - I have to first put them up on a website? Strange how this internet thing works.

In any case, something in the area of 1/500 at 5.6 is usually good when the sun's out.

If you really want total control over whether you can delete the pictures from the internet in the future, you should open a Photobucket account, upload the pictures there, and then copy the link to the picture into your post here.

Otherwise, there's Tinypic, where you don't have to open an account. You can simply upload your pics. The only difference is you don't have all the pics in one directory and you can't delete them once you're done with them.

Great pics, but you take your eyes off the ball on your backhand. You should be looking at the ball on contact.

First one I am looking at the ball out of the corner of my eye. The second its after contact and I was looking at where I did hit ball.

Because by now "it's my job" on TW...

On this particular serve the TW Linesman calls, "Foot fault!"

I played in a tourney two weeks ago (and got *spanked* first round by a good player who lost in the Semis). After my match I asked the Referee how I did on FF's. His response was, "Pretty good...."

"Pretty good??!!! Waddya mean, 'Pretty good?' Did I FF?"

He then recounted one time where I crossed my back foot over the front -- stepping into the court by about six inches. "But" he said, "You walked through your toss and didn't even attempt to hit the ball."

"So?" I protested "I guess I did pretty well after all, huh?"

Then he decided, "Yeah. Now that I think about it, you did very well ... since technically, that wasn't a FF."

    (Geez!!!)

What digicam do you have? Does it have burst mde? Burst mode allows you to hold down the shutter button and it will take numerous frames in sequence. Like what Duece said, increase the shutter speed to reduce blur. Also, megapixels does not matter on shutterspeeds, but rather on the quality of the picture if it were blowned up, more pixels more details on blown up pics.

You can also use a Tripod and set the camera on timer. They sell mini tripods for about less than $20.00.

It's an old dsc-p50 there I could not find no shutter speed option. I'm sure my cousins 8meg has more options like taking action shots. Yes i know the amount of megs deteremines the quality but thats how i say it for better cameras as well.

    Nice pics everyone!

I thought I'd post a couple more, just for fun.

Here is a forehand from a month or so ago...

    Look Meg, BLACK SOCKS!

And since I'm nearly out of good tennis pics, here's some random stuff!

For comic relief, here's me lifting weights after practice!

I'll try to get some more next time I practice...

Meg, gets out her matches, winds up, strikes it, and tosses in the general direction of Tennis D.

The weight lifting pic is hillarious. If ever you come home and all your black socks are gone, be assured that I'll ship 30 new no show white nike's your way.

I think the weight lifting one just makes me look weird! hahah

I only wear black socks for two reasons:
1: I like to wear lots of non-all-white shoes. Lots of black shoes
2: When I first started playing Europe, I was living in a place with no washing machine. Hand washing clay out of white socks is the hardest thing in the world. So now I just wear blacks out of habit.

Come on, they aren't that bad!

And your pics are very nice!

I don't understand. What's so bad about black no show socks? I like them b/c they don't get dirty. Plus you can't even see them b/c they blend into my shoes.

Well, as strange as it is, I'm jealous. I'm gunna come visit k? Hey there doesn't happen to be one particular COUNTRY you're in in Europe is there?

P.s. Black no show socks remind me of Mr. Rogers. RIP. Personally, I don't want to play tennis with Mr. Rogers and his black socks. Call me crazy but there's something clean and nice about white socks that just does it for me.

    TennisD,

Do you ever play in montreal? I hear there is a really good tennis club up there and i'm going to start playing up there very soon. :)

Supposably there is the 40th best junior player girl in the world that trains there. Also alot of other very good players.

The only way to get better is to play up! :)

Smile! Please! I can't stand it when people take pictures where no one is smiling. As The Killers once said, smilllllle like you mean it.

Take mine for example, I'm smiling, the world hasn't ended yet.

It's not all it's cracked up to be. Take note, I'm not smiling as Meg was so kind to point out. I'd be back in NY tomorrow if I could. Only good thing is 365 outdoor tennis...unless it is raining.

Why aren't you smiling though? I mean get excited for life. Please. It's not all bad. It's actually one of the pains I classify as beautiful. Ya know when you smile or laugh so hard your face hurts. That's a beautiful pain. When you do 200 crunches and your abs kill you the next day, that's a beautiful pain. There're others too but anyway, you get the idea.

Smilings not all bad, unless your digital puts a glare on your teeth and your friends at TW have to fix it for you like mine did. But 5 years of braces gone, I should be smiling.

I've got braces and everything, and usually when I open my mouth...it's ugly. XD At least it seems to me.

Then I'm forced into this...awkward smile without my teeth showing. But if I'm laughing, or just really, really happy, I forget all about that and laugh until my smile muscles are out.

    Nothing feels better. :3

edit:: See, in my avatar, the braces aren't showing and I'm smiling naturally for once. It looks GOOD. :p On another note, that match was the most fun I've ever had so far. A singles match against my best friend...an experienced moonballer. >__<

Smiling requires extensive use of a number of facial muscles, hence, ruining the "relaxed" look. No, I think it's okay not to smile in a photo-takes too much effort. Where'd you get that Hawiian shirt...NO, come to think of it, I don't want to know!;-)

LOL I actually have one worse than that. You wanna hear embarrassing, remember Tom Selleck in Magnum PI? He always wore the Hawiian shirts and a Detroit Tigers baseball cap. Anyway, one day I'm walking down the street near the beach and these teenagers drive by me yelling "hey Magnum!" At first I'm like "what the hell are they talking about?" And then it hit me. I had on the very wild red Hawiian shirt and a vintage Buffalo Bisons cap which looks like a tiger hat but with an Old English "B" instead of the "D". Needless to say I've never worn that combo again.
