I used to have two of those courts at my condominium and they were great to play even after a rain. However, to prevent slipping, you have to sprinkle sand on it, and things can get quite nasty if you take a spill ... so we always had to pack bandaids in our tennis bags, just in case!

Fun stuff, although you could just combine the two formulas to make your life easier.

E = hv / lambda eh 750 nm eh? That isn't in the "visible" spectrum just a little bit outside of it :p.

Heh, ^_^ easy stuff. Dealing with wave spectromotry and quantum theory. Got to love those electron configurations.

Ahh, I hate that part atomic structure with the drawings. Propane ^_^ ;).

Okay, this is about the 3rd time I've seen a reference to "cloaking" a Poster. Can someone who *knows* tell me what this is about? I just reread the Policies and see nothing about this.

(I participate on a few forums. I've never encountered this feature.)

That light pink type was quite the pain, though....

Hi Kaptain, cloaking is a term used when a poster is still able to post material, but this material is not visible to others. I hope she didn't waste too much time with her [size] and [colour] crap.

I think what he meant was. It's hard to read with all of the stupid colours she used and her poor english.

What are you talking about? My eyes can detect EM radiation to a wavelength as short as 750 nanometers...that's right...i've been given this ability by eye surgeons when I told them I keep tripping infra-red beams as I break into people's houses.

Na, of course I now know that was a bit stretched for human eyes as the limit is more like 710nm. BTW, that was a review exam as it was the first of the semester. It was to review our High School chem. ability...that was a joke compared to what we did later in the year.

    I'm all about Atmosphere/Ocean Science. :)

Surely you can type like a normal person...nobody cares if your font is Comic Sans, or Tempus Sans, or blue in colour; just freakin' type like this. It's much less harder to read, though i'm sure most just skip your posts...

Here are some new pics of me. These were taken in early December at Indian Creek Racquet Club in Overland Park, Kan. It's pretty difficult without a stabilizer lens to not get a little motion blur indoors with low lighting (and my camera doesn't have one), so this is the best I got.

and guys, if you didn't know, if you don't like the alternating colours, highlight the text and read it like that..... it turns it into two colours.

    nice pics jeff,
i noticed that you wear them knee supports, i am having all sorts of problems with my knees, and my coach recommended me buying some of them, i found a place that sell nike ones, but they have to order them from nike and the two sizes available are
    medium &
    large
do you know what size your one is, im not sure if medium might be too small and if i do buy large it could be too big, so if you can help i would really appreciate it, i am roughly about the same size as you so any help would help!

    thanks

    Not tennis pictures

Obviously these are not tennis pictures, but I don't have any. These were taken a few weeks ago. I had to do some quick photoshopping to hide the identity of the unfortunate girl with me in the pictures that for some unexplained reason is willing to appear with me in public.

That's just sad man. Did she ask you to do that to her face? Besides, she looks like she's pretty cute. We'll never know.

Nah, she didn't ask me to do that, I just chose to hide her face because I haven't asked her if she would mind. I'm not comfortable posting her face to this without her permission, I don't think she would mind, but I still feel as though it's respectful to ask first. It would only take a few seconds to undo the slight modifications anyway. The advantages of photoshop.

That's definitely the respectful thing to do. I used to do it all the time and my fellow twers thought I was just being conceited and wanted all the attention.

Yeah, well, I hate pictures and avoid all cameras like the plague usually. I'm more likely to try to include anything in the picture that I can in order to take attention away from myself, but I don't feel that it's right to post her on the boards without her permission.

Luke, it's a medium. I wouldn't say that thing makes much difference, probably more of a placebo, but I had a lot of problems with it when I played basketball a LOT a few years back, it helped then. I just kind of feel naked without it. Another thing...I hate sleeves.

You may as well have had some fun with PS. I'm thinking a "Picasso Girl" would be different. You know, one eye on her forehead ... nose where the ear goes ... etc. It would preserve her ID ... and be notable.

Where do you play most of your tennis? I play about 4-6 tourneys a year in Colorado.

I suppose the "Picasso" girl would be interesting. At the very least it would be different, but I guess I didn't feel like dedicating the extra 3 or 4 minutes that would require.

I live in Golden, so I usually play at the CSM courts because they cut our tennis team this year to supply the football team with more money. So the only time the courts are being used is when the club team is out there, but they haven't played since early November. I haven't played in any tournaments recently because I was taking the equivalent of about 25 credit hours and working part time last semester. My schedule is a little lighter this semester so I may try to get around to playing some tournaments in Denver if they don't mess with my Friday schedule. The problem is that my Fridays aren't free until after my morning classes that finish at 11. Those are classes I can't really skip, as much as I may want to sometimes.

Yeah. I was REALLY disappointed to see Mines drop tennis. I've never been on the CSM courts, but I've heard they are pretty nice.

Your #1 "job" is to hit those books! I hope you are enjoying your study. Mines is a terrific school. (My son's best friend graduated in '03.) Good luck with it.

Yeah, the courts aren't too bad. Think they got resurfaced a few years ago. They have those stupid scorekeeping things on the netposts though. Occasionally a lot of leaves from the nearby trees get all over one of the courts, but no real problems other than that. The books take up so much of my time, taking a few classes that my professors admitted we got screwed on as far as credit hours went last semester really limited my time. I had 2 classes that they said should be counted for closer to 6-8 credit hours instead of 4-4.5, and 2 more classes that they say should be counted closer to 5 instead of 3, but not really much I can do about that. Now I just have to get my GPA up above my current miserable 3.5, and try to fit some tennis in there as a release. I don't want to end up like the student that ended up getting a stress induced ulcer last semester because of the workload.

She's not my girlfriend, just a co-worker. She's married, too. I do play mixed doubles with her, though. In this picture she's telling me to relax in her typically funny way.

A couple of pictures of a friend of mine that just happend to be playing on a court next to my kids mini tennis session. I really like this guys strokes (when he goes for them). He also has a really nice serve) even though I think he has a tendency to play much to far behind the baseline...

Now, _this_ is how to play hockey!

Gotta let you see this - my daughter Emma was part of a small exhibition hockey match (4 minutes long!) that was played in the break between period 1 and 2 in one of the league matches here in Sweden (in the highest league) between two of the top teams yesterday. The arena was sold out when the kids (7-8 years old) entered the arena to show everyone how to *really* play hockey (Emmas team, the blue ones, even - almost - made a goal! :)

    http://www.grebo.net/~peter/2006-01-14/bjornligan_060114.mov

(Warning - the "clip" is 88 megabytes long and takes about 5 minutes to view).

^ That dude's forehand grip is almost continental, like the one Sampras would use sometimes. Yikes.
