Tennis near Chelmsford MA
Hi guys, I have been wanting to play in tournaments for awhile. I'm currently not a member of USTA. I am 23 year old. I played a bit of highschool tennis and I'm not sure which level of tennis player I am.

I searched around and found the All Seasons Tennis Club Men's 3.5 sd tournament which is in June. Could I just register for it and show up? What if I dont qualify as a 3.5? Is this an elimination type that if you lose you're out? I would like to play more than one match if I'm going to pay $40 bux to join :)

I am from your general area in Massachusetts. Nice to meet you.

To answer your question, you'd likely want to error on the side of caution and call the Club to make sure of the answer 100% before you decide to enter or not.

Also, at times, even if in theory you were to lose in the First Round, there might be a Consolation Match.

Hope that helps,

Thanks...I found another tournament in a couple weeks in Nashua. I ll be doing singles 3.5 there. Anyone know what's the age group that play in 3.5 adult tournaments?

you need to be a member of USTA to play those tournements (sounds like they are USTA sanctioned events).

Usually it's single elimination. But they have a consolation bracket (a better name for loser's bracket). So you could be the winner among the losers. lol. So you are pretty much guaranteed to play at least 2 matches.

Usually the age are pretty mixed, from old to young. They are all there. IMHO the 3.5 USTA tournment players in MA are more like 4.0 (if you rate skill wise).

When you sign up for USTA, you self rate yourself. Once you've done that, you are only allowed to register for events within + 1/ -0.5 from it (I might be wrong).

Alright I was afraid that I was rating myself too low. I knew I was either a 3.5 or a 4.0 so now since 3.5 in MA is like a 4.0 skillwise. I guess I'm right where I want to be. I will be playing in the tournament in Nashua the weekend after this week. Anyone else is playing there?

Anyone ever played on the grass courts they're supposed to have at the Longwood Cricket club in Brookline?
