What does a code violation mean?
I saw Roddick hit a ball into the stands after being broken in his match w/ Henman
He got a code violation but what effect does it have on the player? do they lose a game, point, or is it just a warning |
I looked up the ATP rule book online. The first code violation results in a warning. The second, in a point penalty. The third violation results in a game penalty. Further violations result in a game penalty or a default, according to the Tournament Supervisor's discretion.
I was surprised by that...I thought the fourth violation was an automatic default. Personally, on the fourth violation I think you should be locked in a room with Patrick McEnroe and be forced to listen to him gush about how great Andy Roddick is. |
or worse, watch those awful espn promos for roddick's matches, you know, the ones where he's in the studio with the piped in smoke, glaring at the camera like he's some soldier going off to war, while the corporate metal music is playing in the background
now that'll stop code violations in a heartbeat |
