There are dampers that kill feel, absolutely. I'm using a simple damper that cleares some vibration, obviously killing some feel, but not that much.

I hate the feel of a vibration dampener. it causes me to lose all feel :[.

MEAC_ALLAMERICAN 02-21-2008 04:45 AM

None at all.

I used to but over the past 6 months I have played without them, and it is the best I have felt the ball.

Sampras "O". They gave 'em away free w/ a pack of Tournagrip years ago. I've got ~ 12 left.

i use the Wilson frownie on my main racket cause i change the strings, but i use ruberbands for my others

I like the Pete Sampras dampeners...they take away the ping without making the racquet feel dead.

Kirko 02-21-2008 06:18 AM

No >>>

they "rob" power & feel, that said the rackets made today need them because without one they feel like they are broken when you strike the ball.

Applesauceman 02-21-2008 06:23 AM

I use the Wilson dampener that looks like the 'Target' symbol. I like just enough dampening to silence the "ping" sound without sacrificing feel.

I use a dampener...K90s vibrate too much for me without one.

I have been using a rubber band that is tied really loose so that I can still get the feel.

robkat 02-21-2008 06:45 AM

I do not use one. When I was younger I wouldn't play without one. Now I think, I like the feel I get without a dampener.

rubber band for me because it makes me look cool 8)

miniRafa386 02-21-2008 10:42 AM

the clear head dampener is dirty, softens up the string bed without letting go of the feel the string brings.

AJTx0 02-21-2008 10:47 AM

Vibration dampener for me :D.

:) would be it.

TNT16 02-21-2008 10:50 AM

I use the Dunlop square ones; the rubber is quite soft so there is ample feel left despite the dampener. I used to use the Yonex triangle ones but in comparison to the Dunlop ones the Yonex takes quite a bit of feel away.

soyizgood 02-21-2008 10:54 AM

I've lost track of all the dampeners I have. I guess I'm a pack rat when it comes to dampeners. :)

I was highly resistant to using them for a long time. But then I got tennis elbow and on-off shoulder pain so I've warmed up to dampeners over time. Now all my racquets have one, including the cheapy Walmart ones...LMAO

rorourboat320 02-21-2008 11:31 AM

i've always used wilson dampeners. one time i didn't realize my dampener had fallen off and i when i hit the next ball it just felt too weird for me. and it also makes such a weird noise IMO

JRstriker12 02-21-2008 12:09 PM

I use a rubber washer.

Trainer 02-21-2008 12:10 PM

Used to, decided I liked the feel of the ball making contact better without it, so I don't anymore.
