Bottom of my feet
I have been playing every night for two hours, for the last two weeks, and my feet are killing me. I took four days off, and they felt good as new. As soon as I got back on the court, after about 10 minutes of moving around, my left foot started hurting again.
It hurts towards the back of my foot, does not feel like the achilles, but around the ankle and bottom of the foot. I can stand on my toes and move around fine on my toes, but when I put pressure on the back of my foot it aches, badly.
Any ideas on how to make this any better? I tried buying a new pair of sneakers that would be easier on my feet, but that has not helped to much.
It is possible that you have bone spurs -- both ankle spurs and heel spurs. Try researching these terms to see if it describes what you are experiencing. These spurs can be a result of an old injury (perhaps even more than 10-15 yrs ago) or from carrying excess weight.
could also be plantar fasciitis, or a tearing of the tendon/ligament extending from the balls of your feet to your heel.
I had this a few months ago and I had to resist playing for a few months to let it heal. A few trips to a specialist later and I was almost good as new.
If it is PF, its most likely from 1) not enough arch support in your shoes or 2) too much strain placed on the foot for an extended period of time.

I second the plantar fasciitis guess, which is something I suffer from. It feels like I've been beaten on the bottom of my heels with a hammer sometimes.
I deal with mine by using high quality insoles with a higher arch support (because I'm sort of flat footed), stretching my legs and feet thoroughly before and after playing. Icing the feet after playing to reduce swelling, and taking ibuprofin after playing to reduce swelling and pain.
Mine is not completely well because I refuse to quit playing long enough for it to heal (sure my doctor would advise I stop playing for a while), but the stretching before and after and use of good arch supports helps greatly.
With mine the pain was worst first thing in the morning. Getting out of bed and getting downstairs first thing in the morning was excruciating. stretching would loosen my feet and make an immediate improvement.

i also ran into the plantar fasciitis issue above
it tunred out to be the flat shoes i was using, i bought TENNIS (i dont know what sport shoes i had before) shoes with arch support and the problem went away
as a temporary relief for this plantar fasciitis, i was rolling a tennis ball with my foot at home while watching TV, like a massage for the arch portion of the foot, it felt great and it helped a little to relax the muscle on the foot, got this tip on maxim magazine :-)
