do i set the bottom of the weight with my desired tension or the top of the weight? i've been doing it with the bottom aligned with my desired tension.

In Almerickso's videos, it appears that he is reading his from the bottom.

Per the X-2 Manual

"To set the stringing tension, loosen the locking knob on the side of the drop weight. Slide the weight in the appropriate direction until the face closest to the string gripper is indexed with the desired tension mark on the tension bar"...

From that I assume the bottom end aligned with the tension mark you desire. A good question for GammaTech!

yup it should be read from the bottom

according to the manual and well you kinda cant string at the lower tensions if the mark was the top part of the counter weight :D

This is correct.

or another explanation, if you want to set it for 60lbs, 20-60lbs would be showing on the bar and 60-72lbs would be covered by the weight.
