Andy Murray Racquet

A lot of talk about what racquet he's using. Nobody knows, the majority of players use 1 racquet and never switch, few do, but it's not common. Andy Murray has used the iprestige for a long time. I don't see why he would switch.

That paintjob is an iRadical with Cap grommets, not an iPrestige. I'm not sure if there's something different under the paint though.

Murray switched to the Microgel Prestige Pro. If you bothered to even look at the photos you would see that Murray's racquet now has a 16x19 string pattern, Full C.A.P. Grommets, and a 98 sq. in. or 630 cm2 head size.
Here look take a look at the Photos again from the 2008 U.S. Open.

what an ugly looking hobbit

vsbabolat 09-07-2008 01:35 PM

Here is a really good photo of Murray and his MG Prestige Pro that it is easy to see the the 16x19 string pattern.
This Photo is from the 2008 Australian Open

It's a Bandwagon Pro 4369THo**** with a Head Prestige Pro paint job.

x5150 09-08-2008 12:09 PM

its not a radical pro? its got the orange paintjob.

gkamieneski 09-08-2008 05:44 PM

So, do we conclude that it's a MG Prestige Pro? To me, the paint scheme looks like MG Prestige Mid.

Don't forget the Murray can have any stick manufactured to his liking.
Last time Head tried to switch him they couldn't. New holes can be drilled in the same frame he's had. Just like Roger who had the holes drilled father apart for more spin.
So old frame and new holes?...sounds about right.

the frame is a Prestige Pro, but the paintjob is the MG radical pj.
confusing, yes, but true.

Murray uses the Microgel Prestige Pro with a MG Radical mp pj. There's been hundreds of posts confiming this, some of them by guys who've actually strung his racquets.

x5150 09-09-2008 12:41 PM

ic, yah it does look like the prestige with that head guard. nice bait and switch scheme these racquet companys got going. oh well i like my head radical.

master_stringer_mitchy 09-09-2008 01:22 PM

yep, this justs keeps going on and on! he uses the prestige pro with the radical mp pj to help boost sales as agassi isnt on the pro tour any more. other players like patty "cant spell her name" sneider have also been given similar pj's. from what ive heard, and that beinfg good sources changed the ballance on hos frames after his wrist injury mid 07 and has settled on this weight and balance. at the start of the year when he started using this new frame, with the 16 19 pattern he had no lead tape at 3 and 9, now he does. he hasnt did bad with it has he!?!?!

Snuh 09-09-2008 10:01 PM

I like the photos where hes holding an iRadical like Agassi use to

Waitingwolf 12-12-2009 08:53 AM

hm...

have you guys ever considered, if murray likes the feel of a radical but likes the stability of the prestige, he can ask the head people to customize a radical with 16x19 and a customized prestige grommets. A radical with prestige grommets plays A LOT different than a radical or a prestige.

Automatix 12-12-2009 09:33 AM

One of TT posters Ericsson has his frame and since he's additionally one of the most knowledgeable guys on the forum I would just trust his judgement.

I have one more question...IF i get the Radical Pro, it is possible to change the cap grommets, and put those that Prestige Pro has?

Or they are different, and the cap grommets wouldn't fit on the Radical pro?

the prestige pro is 98 in sq, whereas the radical pro is 100 in sq.

you could fit the CAPs on it, but not in one piece. better just to stick with the original grommets, it plays better that way anyway.

tenkenazn 12-18-2009 10:07 PM

Have you guys seen how much Murray's racket weigh?!
I think there is something seriously wrong with it but I got this pic off from P1's twitter
