Gamma 5003 Reviews?

Just wondering people's experiences with this stringer. I have a chance at picking one up for around $400-500 and wondering if it's worth it.

Provided all the parts are there and it works properly, yes, it is worth it.

The old Progression II ST was the table top version and it sold for $650+ new.

I have one that I bought 2nd hand. If you search on my id, you will see the threads about my adventures with UPS and getting the tension correct.

But the machine is great, easy to use, solid and dependable, will last a lifetime.
Gamma even helped me with a few small parts and tech help, even though they knew that I got the machine 2nd hand.

Unless the machine has been abused, it should be a great deal.

Just picked it up today from a seller off c-list for a cool $500.

Are there any good tutorial videos on how to use this machine or a crank in general?

Also, why are the 2 pt more expensive than the 6 pt mounting system? I thought 6 pt offers more stability thus more expensive?

What are the stringing inconveniences of a 6 pter?

On the Gamma machines the 2pt is more expensive than the 6pt on the 5003 (& 5800) because the self-centering turntable is needed for the 2pt system. the 6004 & 8800-6pt machines already have the self-centering turntable.

just the arms on the side when you are stringing past them and moving the clamps underneath of them. a 2pt can save you a little bit of time.

And if you want to upgrade to a constant pull machine someday throw on a Wise like I did. Works great!
