Andy Murray's Head MG

Well you never know what's in the mail, this week it was Mr.Murray's personal Head MG :), it is used in the clay season strung with Alu and VS gut. Strange thing is the racket is not that heavy, at least don't feel so heavy.
There is a lot of lead under the caps though. More to follow...

RDC!!! RDC!!! RDC!!! Yeah I know... I'm like a broken record :)

DavaiMarat 07-19-2009 06:11 AM

Do you customize racquets for pros?

maximo 07-19-2009 06:17 AM

Do you work for P1?

If so, that's pretty cool.

tomas9848 07-19-2009 09:25 AM

that would be okay.

Will do as soon i find some time, i'm a litlle busy right now but pics will follow...

BTW: the racket weighs 345 grams strung! 21mm beam constant.

i don't work for P1 or customize for pro's (although i do customize for friends ;-)

Eiffel59 07-19-2009 12:05 PM

He CANNOT work for P1...reassure me Ericsson...you haven't betrayed the small red triangle for the big red W :D

ci2ca 07-19-2009 03:18 PM

Wow, 345 strung? That's quite light ( for a pro)

Not really. Murray had some major Wrist problems in the past and some people attributed that to the heaviness of his racket. so probably he took some weight off of his frame. He doesn't hit hard anyway so it probably doesn't make any difference.

No need of hard hits... He's a pusher

Thanks!

Nice! Thanks for taking the time to post ---

At 345 g, seems practically like a stock MGPP, depending on the balance point...

I'm sure you're saving the TGK code pic...

Hope you have the chance to balance it out!

Automatix 07-20-2009 09:49 AM

Nice pics... Thanks for sharing Ericsson!

hyogen 07-20-2009 09:53 AM

awesome!

so for sure its a prestige pro eh? would love to know what balance he uses.

PED 07-20-2009 09:54 AM

Is "andy murray" the only thing printed on the throat or is there a TGK code on the other side?

Thanks for the pics, I was just curious as to if Murray is playing with the same version as Wawrinka.

Blade0324 07-20-2009 11:26 AM

My MGPP's are about 354 strung with Wilson pro overgrip on them so this may be just a little lighter these are normal retail versions.

That said I have a couple that came from the Head Pro room that have no TGK code on them at all. They are perfectly matched and weigh in at 346 strung with pro overgrip. This includes about 16g of lead under the caps in the top of the hoop and what I would estimate to be about 20g of weight in Silicon in the handle. These would probably be only about 290g unstrung with no overgrip and without the lead and Silicon. Interesting how much less weight is in them as a stock frame before customization. It really allows to get the racquet to a wonderful weight and balance without it getting too heavy. When I have tried to get the balance of my retail frames close to the balance on these the static weight ends up getting up around 365g strung. 20g even in the handle makes a pretty huge difference in how they play even at the same balance.

I'm not surprised at all at the weight of Murray's frame. The ones I have are so solid feeling even with this relatively low weight.

^^Spot on Blade, that's one reason I considered trying out the MP version as it's a bit lighter stock than the Pro, giving me more room to customize to my specs. Does your Pro at 354g include leather?

As I mentioned above mine are 345, but I'd love to see how the MP would play at 340g with some lead at 3 & 9.

Do your ones from the Head Pro room play any different than your retail ones and what's the SW?

KonTrol 07-20-2009 11:46 AM

his rkets nice tough
