There is a difference in conspiracy theories of the whacky kind and those which have ulterior motives, like religious fundamentalism or social anarchy. The latter kind is a conspiracy, but not in the theory, but in the ultimate motives.

Look at this:
Quote:

)Staying on top!
Once again, picture in your mind a round world. Now imagine that there are two people on this world, one at each pole. For the person at the top of the world, (the North Pole), gravity is pulling him down, towards the South Pole. But for the person at the South Pole, shouldn't gravity pull him down as well? What keeps our person at the South Pole from falling completely off the face of the "globe"?

Lizard people conspiracy: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Icke

The scary thing here is that people listen to him... and believe him... ... ...

"In 1999, he published The Biggest Secret, in which he wrote that the Illuminati are a race of reptilian humanoids known as the Babylonian Brotherhood, and that many prominent figures are reptilian, including George W. Bush, Queen Elizabeth II, Kris Kristofferson, and Boxcar Willie.[3][5]

According to Political Research Associates, Icke's speaking engagements can draw a substantial audience in Canada.[6] During an October 1999 speaking tour there, he received a standing ovation from students after a four-hour speech at the University of Toronto"
