Does Kim Clijsters use an actual pure drive GT

Because when I went into the wimbledon mueseum they had her racket from the centre court celebration

tennisntn3477 12-09-2009 05:55 AM

Always heard she still used an earlier version without Cortex.

hiruma21 12-09-2009 06:01 AM

Well, I saw a cortex on her racket when I saw her last.

tennispro19 12-09-2009 08:08 AM

looks like an actual GT to me, can see that is defo cortex as well

MethodTennis 12-09-2009 08:17 AM

hard to tell the string pattern is different on the 1st gen ( both are 16x18 but crosses are more spread out on 1st gen) from the latter moddels altough this looks like it could be the real deal a acctuall GT

ryushen21 12-09-2009 08:20 AM

Looks like the real deal to me. Cortex, woofer grommets. Like mentioned, can't count the string pattern on that one but I don't see any reason to doubt that it is an actual PDGT.

Actually, its pretty easy to see its a real cortex... you can see its contours and how the contours of the cortex go within the actual grip circumference, if it was painted onto an older model, it would just be a flat yellow pattern, wouldnt have all the curvessss.

dude, im the biggest hater on here for people looking at a racket from a 1000 miles away and saying thats a pj. look on the shaft, at the bottom of the cortex you can see where it comes out. ive seen and held andy roddicks actual racket and u can tell thats painted on from miles away, this racket she is using has cortex. its not so hard to believe she is using a new racket, she as been out for a few years and might of liked it, they play alot better than last years ones

Kim played with the original Pure Drive (non woofer) all the way up till when she 'retired'. But I believe she switched to the actual GT when she came back.

Marshredder 12-09-2009 02:29 PM

Sorry for the HUGE photo, but its a great example of how fake it does look when they paint on the cortex... Totally flat and unrealistic.

imalil2gangsta4u 12-09-2009 02:33 PM

Anyone know the weight and balance of her stick?

Yes, this is what I was told as well, she used to play with Pure Drive 1st Generation, but since coming back is using the GT!

Not to nitpick, but doesn't Andy usually wrap his tournagrip up over the where the cortex should be. I know he did at one point to cover up the cortex when it first came out. Now, Rafa's is an obvious fake.

yes he does, but i actually held andys rackets when i was in rpny in the summer. they would not let me take my pic with the players sticks that are there but my mate too this on of me in the shop

origmarm 12-11-2009 12:56 AM

Based on that photo below the racquet definitely has cortex and woofer grommets, which would suggest she has changed from her earlier version of the PD.

Cheers, Orig
