LM Prestige paint job

Got this racket from a friend, who told me a pro gave to him used but not broken. I am not 100% convinced but cannot argue.

Check inside the throat for a code.

It's obviously a paintjob though.

UD1 08-03-2010 07:46 PM

Yes it's definetly a pj. What is your question?

marosmith 08-03-2010 08:47 PM

I would guess a PT57a. Wanna sell it?

jemsiter 08-03-2010 09:31 PM

Definitely NOT a PT57A. Just look at the throat area front and back. It looks more like the prestige mid than the mp if you know what I mean.

pj is not my question. it is very easy to tell. Can this be Mr. Safin's racket? My friend told me so.

I will look closely again in throat area again but doubt will find anything. Don't even know where this is made.

It was Made in Austria. It is a Prestige Classic 600 with a LM Prestige PJ. When you are a Pro back during the i, LM, and FXP era and asked for a PC600 you got a "PT10". PT10=PC600!

Mdubb23 08-04-2010 06:01 AM

It's the mold of the PC600, with a slightly different layup. In hairpin form, before the handle was cut and molded, the pallet would've read "H22010A2P". If the frame were released at a later time, approximately 3-4 months after the Flexpoint retail line was released (and therefore painted like a Flexpoint Prestige Mid), it would have "PT10" written in the throat, but, to reiterate, Head did not designate codes in the throats of their SMU frames until a few months after the retail Flexpoint line had been released.

Could it be Safin's frame? Doubtful--it's not smashed. :). In all seriousness, yes it certainly could be, but it could also be any other PC600 PJ user at the time i.e. Rainer Schuettler, Jose Acasuso, etc..

It seems to be in 7.5-8/10 condition, and you could probably expect ~$300 for it.

WHAT A FIND

90

I doubt it's Safin's frame cos most (not all) of his frames came with his name printed on the inside...

Plus I don't think Safin had the 5/8 grip size?

Thanks for the comment and clear up the name part, which was my believe as well. Good to get
With two strips of leather grip on the side, I measured the grip size exactly 4 1/2. So if it has the full leather, it will be more than 4 1/2. (but I read somewhere he do not like leather.) If he just put an overgrip on top, is it still very close to 4 1/2.

I had a racquet identical this frame. It was a 4 3/8 lm pj PT10. don't expect $300 for it though. I had a lot of trouble selling mine for that. I think I was lucky to get $275. Great racquet though. If I could have obtained more and they could have been new I may have switched.

Safin does not use leather.. He use Head Absorb replacement grip.. grip 4 1/2 exact. NO leather.. There is quite a lot of lead above the grip, thru out the head under CAP grommet and some silicon inside the butt cap
