It is no coincidence that the top 4 players are in the semis
wanted to put this in the General Pro Player Discussion but it may be spoilers to some fellow posters on here.
Anyway, title says it all really. Would it be the same next year? |
Soderling is in the semis?
|
Big 4 is alive.
Who care that in fact it is big one and a half = Federer and Nadal and 2 other... |

Murray goes back to number four again on Monday I believe.

unlike the WTA

It's been a monumentally dull season, doesn't surprise me that the lack of decent competition has manifested itself in this way.

I am almost ready to take murray out of the BIG 4. At least djokovic took a set off nadal in the US open final. :)

Look at their round-robin records. Love the symmetry!
Rank and record: #7 and #8: 0-3 RR #5 and #6: 1-2 RR #3 and #4: 2-1 RR #1 and #2: 3-0 RR |

Right time to BUMP this thread.
Even Ferrer managed to respect his seed and reached SF. Just wondering how long such domination would continue? Its getting old on me. Don't get me wrong; I love to see these top players in the last four, but some fresh air would be welcome. |
Amazing moment in tennis history!
Top 4 ranked players are through to the semis! (it's possible I'm being silly about this comment) |
heck of a bump

Who was a threat to break through?
- Almagro blew it mentally, it was his to lose (although against Ferrer and not Nadal). - Stanislas was unfortunate against Djokovic (it really could have gone either way). - Tsonga came very close against Federer, but was outplayed during the tie breaks and a few key points (also very close match). - No one has come close threatening Murray this tournament. - I missed the Berdych vs. Djokovic match, but from the scoreline and commentary it seems it was business as usual. So the top 4 were threatened in only three matches this tournament ahead of the semi-finals and two of the three matches were in the quarterfinal stage. That's a poor showing from the round of 16 guys imo. |

Last time the top 4 seeds all made the semis at a Slam was exactly one year ago at 2012 AO (Nadal v Federer, Djokovic v Murray). |
Yes I know this, I was actually just kidding in my previous post, it almost feels like it happens once a year, I remember when it happened at Aus Open 2005, that was coool, but it seems to happen so much with the big four in the last 3-4 years
|
The people who predicted huge surprises at the AO this year (and there were a few) couldn't have been more wrong. Same old, same old.
