Nadal Decline Poetry

The Spaniard slows his frantic pace
In pain and desperation
His aching limbs and downcast face
Aglow with perspiration

Stiff as wire, his lungs on fire
With just the briefest pause
Then flooding through his memory
The echoes of old applause

The Spaniard stares with glassy eyes
Defies the double fault
His eyes are white, his face is lined
And streaked with tears of rage

5 years years ago, how the shots would flow
With passion and precision
But now his mind is dark and dulled
By sickness and indecision

And he stares out Arthur Ashe's stadium door
Where the sun will rise no more...

Some are born to move the world
To live their fantasies
But most of us just dream about
The things we'd like to be
Sadder still to watch it die
Than never to have known it
For you, the troll who once could see
The bell tolls for thee...

Goodbye Rafa

:(

Rafa Rafa he used to slide around like balls on fire
Ever since losing to Djoko he's playing like a little boy lost in a choir

Almost losing to an Italian qualifier
Oh there is so much more to him where is the fire

A surge in form is what he needs
Oh Djoko Djoko would you bend over please.

As I read these I wept with tears made of basalt.

I wore my GHOAT when reading this.

And on the horizon, a glorious empire sun is setting
casting shadows on sulking faces and on the court's netting

What once was a gleaming hope, is now burnt up and cold
Making his way through the halls of time to join the greats of old

Savage beasts of the new generation are having the feasts of their lives
While fans of the spanish bull feel like their hearts are struck with knives.

Is rafa really done? Or does he have a plan?
To give Federer a glimpse of hope and then stick it to the man?

TennisFan3 05-11-2011 10:01 AM

Brilliant stuff guys.

Maybe someone can take all these posts and send to Nadal?

Is this the time?
Is this Nadal's decline?

Losing a set to Andy Murray
Might've taken it's toll a bit
Rafa's now filled with anger and fury
His eyes are full of pieces of grit

Not only that, listen up everybody!
Djoker has taken him out in 2!
A new king is ready to gather some glory
So is it over? Could be true.

Rafa lost a match on clay
His opponent was inspired
Then he strugles in his next match
His performance was truly dire

The match was tight,
he gave his fans a fright,
he was hanging on a wire.
Lets not forget the Italian though,
the dude was just one fire

Whispers start to escalate
Debating on the Spainiards fate
'Has Novak taken Rafa's place?'
'Can he win RG in his current state?'
Rafa dont you worry mate
You just let the haters hate

People still believe in you
You still have Majors to acrew
Your FH is still pure and true
Noone fights as much as you

Your buddy Fed is a prime example
they say he been finished since 2008
Keep stacking trophies on your mantle
They just dont appreaciate!

Nadal_Slam_King's lament

From seven straight slams,
you fell. I remember when
glory was all ours.

F-T-S 05-11-2011 10:38 AM

Three grand slams all in a row,
he started living in that glow,
the fans don't hesitate to gloat,
"Fed no longer is the GOAT."

Then surfaces just got too fast,
But these don't matter,
Wait til their past.
And WTF, well Nad's was gassed.

2 0 1 1 then came around,
Rafa was nowhere to be found,
The Serb with verve, he did much better,
he had no need to play five setters!

Now on clay the Joker strikes,
And fans are ****ed,
"That just ain't right!"
They hope he can put up a fight.

This is worse than Vogon poetry.

I'm laughing at those who claim Rafa is in decline. The guy hasn't lost before a final since Indian Wells, and he won two events since then, and people say he's on decline. I fully expect another Rafa victory in the semis and this time he beats Djoker in the final, on slow clay this time. Rafa did lose a bit of confidence but unlike Murray and even Fed Rafa can pick up his level quickly and dominate like before. I'm willing to put money that Rafa wins this RG, and the final won't even be very tough for him.

That doesn't rhyme.

vive le beau jeu ! 05-11-2011 11:15 AM

And Joy is Everywhere;
It is in the Earth's green covering of grass;
In the blue serenity of the Sky;
In the reckless exuberance of Spring;
In the severe abstinence of gray Winter;
In the Living flesh that animates our bodily frame;
In the perfect poise of the Human figure, noble and upright;
In Living;
In the exercise of all our powers;
In the acquisition of Knowledge;
In the decline of the nadal;
in fighting evils...
Joy is there Everywhere.

Old bull's haiku

Bull on a parade
sings before the end - his last
spanish serenade.

Added rhyme for win.
