Huge news about Federer's racket!!!

Was on the phone with the Wilson rep today...and he casually mentions Wilson is getting Del Potro a new stick. cool. then he informs me Fed has been testing out a few new prototypes to hit with, with the main difference in that he's testing out a larger head size. 93-95!!!!!!!!

so fed may finally not shank those bhs so much anymore!!!

To the pro-equipment section!

Sentinel 07-07-2011 08:34 PM

Except that I've noticed Rafa or was it Joker shanking at WO. So maybe they need larger frames, too.

Bartelby 07-07-2011 08:40 PM

Maybe its a racquet that Federer will be said to play with, but really it's a racquet to cash in on the general market which must surely have twigged by now that they can't play with his real racquet.

zapvor 07-07-2011 08:42 PM

sorry wrong section. if mods can please move/merge this thread. thanks!

obviously the retail version will be different spec than the real fed

Bartelby 07-07-2011 08:55 PM

the current retail fed racquet is almost the same as his own

zapvor 07-07-2011 09:08 PM

yea but almost isnt the same. besides thats up for debate.

Cup8489 07-08-2011 08:08 AM

Wow, this is crazy, didnt expect this to happen.

Matt H. 07-08-2011 08:10 AM

well, Pete admitted that he should have switched to a larger head in the final years of his career.

Fed is learning from the previous GOAT's misjudgement.

stangaele 07-08-2011 08:21 AM

fed is playing now in the davis cup with a 95 head size racquet...

Larrysümmers 07-08-2011 08:31 AM

I really dont think much will happen. you shank with a 90, youre gunna shank with a 95. you hit long with a 95, youre going to hit long with a 90. its going to make some difference, but not a whole lot.

yeah should have gone all the way to a 100. If you're gonna go through the growing pains of switching sticks might as well do it right

i really do agree with you on this one. i actually think that the wt should be lowered, that would be the first step, for me.

i can hit the same with the prestige mid and warrior os. but the weight and balance makes it a whole lot easier.

That looks like a rounded beam.

Next yr Wilson releases the 100" head. Then a special edition that is polarized. Do not forget Fed's 2012 Olympic model.

No, they don't. They zoom in on a Wilson BLX racquet with ball for an interesting composition, not Federer's Wilson. You might notice Fed sitting on his bench on the other side of the court.

lol ok maybe not

They focus in on a BLX95. You assumed that it is Feds racquet. It was on the other side of the court where Fed was sitting.

Dimitrov 07-08-2011 09:01 AM

He doesn't even shank that much????
