Now About Those Linesmen...

I am eager to hear what will develop in the coming days. They were SO bad it was unbelievable. And it seemed like it was the worst in the FINALS! There needs to be some firing done.

elpolaco84 01-29-2012 07:22 AM

absolutely right, the tournament was plagued bad calls, totally unbelievable

PSNELKE 01-29-2012 07:23 AM

Linesman were awful.

But cmon Djokovic is a freakin, living Hawk Eye.

Talker 01-29-2012 07:24 AM

Just plain bad.

flyinghippos101 01-29-2012 07:24 AM

lines people and umpires were ****-poor all tournament. The only on-court staff that were superb were probably the ball kids.

AM95 01-29-2012 07:27 AM

lines people were bad. there was one bad umpire.

Gorecki 01-29-2012 07:37 AM

Well.. as a Nadal fan you shouldnt complaint... 90% of the bad calls were against Nole... but that Hawkeye chalenge on his own serve By Saint Rafa was the dooshiest i have seen in my whole life!!!

Just awful throughout the tourney, not just in the final.

Easily the worst slam in the last 5-6 years from this POV.

Is it too far away to think in the future we may have a fully electronic court? That instantly tells the umpire/noise is made/court changes colour - when a ball is in or out?

Too far away, perhaps?

Very true. Have been following the whole tournament and I can assure that it wasn't just this final.

Never have seen a linesman staff in a GS make either so many wrong calls or even worst totally omit calls.

fednad 01-29-2012 08:35 AM

Linesman were drunk.
Were they still thinking about Azarenka's shorts?

They were drunk from day one? :)

But, today was plain horrible. Even my great grandmother, who happens to be blind in the left eye and with cataract in the right, would have seen those calls in.
Maybe, it was Azarenka's shorts after all...

More Nadal love and I got to the butt end of your humour.

Funny, I went to the Murray v Joker match on friday and one of the things I was thinking during the match was how great the linesmen and women were. I can only recall them being wrong once whenever there was a challenge.

Looking at them today, they must have had a few drinks before the match because the line umpiring was woeful!

That was my impression too. It seemed there were very few successful challenges until the ladies finals. That was really bad, and the men's finals had too many bad calls as well. But all in all I thought the calls were remarkably good--especially when you consider the pace and spin of the balls today.
