My Take on Yonex Poly tour spin string

Ok i played with new poly for good 4-6 hours now and i am finally now getting a good feel for it. This is a textured 5 sided poly from Yonex. Yonex makes great products so i decided to give it a try.

Yonex RDIS 100--- 53 lbs full bed.

1st of all, on the serves it is a Great string. Good control, and power on serves is there when you need it. My kick serves really jumped up, even more so than other textured strings like RPM blast.

Feel department really shined. I had problem with feel with bluegear but not with this string, great control on drop shots.

Groundies department. this is where i had some issues. Control is about average but power was lacking. My groundies stood up and saids hit me. I was getting good topspin but it didn't penetrate. This is a problem because if your Topspin groundies sits up during rallie, your opponent will pound it.

Volleys. Not bad with good feel and placement. but once again lacked punch due to lack of power on the string bed.

Overall, Nice string from Yonex with ton of spin potential. Feel was better than bluegear. but this string really lacked penetration on the groundies. Maybe i should go and pump more iron. but won't be switching to this string at this time. but guys with more powerful groundies and guys that love Blue gear string, this string maybe worth trying out. Tons of topspin with decent control. and better feel.

I have a set waiting to be strung up. I like the color the YPTS though. Have you tried the Poly Tour Pro 125?

how do you think blue strings look with a red racquet?

2 hours in of testing.

I'm very impressed with its control, topspin and ball bite.

For me almost like poly tour hs but a little more power.

Looks beautiful on my ezone xi's .

More feedback to come soon.

finally someone did a review of these strings. i currently use poly tour pro 130 in my vcore 98 d at 60 in one and 58 on the other. i was thinking of trying n potentially switching to the poly tour spin, seeing as it is shaped, unlike the round poly tour pro. i used to ur alu rough which is textured to get a bit more spin in my kblade tours. for $9 u cant go wrong. yonex is quality. to answers skye's question, it's a stiff string (maybe because i string it at 60) but i haven't gotten any arm pains. get good spin, but probably not as much spin as a textured string like the poly tour spin. the yellow also looks cool. so u recommend the poly tour spin? how is it compared to alu rough, seeing as u use luxilon.

I will be stringing them up this weekend. But it will full bed this time, not a hybrid. So far, of all the polys I have tried, Alu power plays the best, crisp and lively feel, good power, nice spin. You really have to try it out, at least once.

The spin and control is insane, better than Alu Rough by a mile.

I used to use many luxilon strings, Alu Rough, alu fluoro, big banger original, even big banger ace (doesn't last me more than 4 hours)..., I can tell you won't get better control and spin from any of these luxilon above, guaranteed.

I'm only at 3 hours right now, the poly tour HS is way better than big banger original as well, similar as well.

i had trouble getting acute angle on inside out forehands. it would fly out wide often. great on touch shots though like drop shots.

I can't comment on your experience, but to me it is awesome, but I will hit more today with it.

More comments to follow.

I want to try it, but I think it would look like crap with or racquets nostradamus. light blue with blood red, not the path to best looking setup.

I have it strung up at 45 in my EZONE Xi 98. I love it. Mellows out the powerful racquet. Control and power is enough for me. I'm pushing 2 weeks with the same set of strings. It didn't feel like there was a break in time needed, either.

I'm a baseliner and it felt good from the back. At the net, the string was fine (I'm not a volleyer). Serves felt good and my return game was excellent with the strings (when I didn't shank the ball). I even lost the dampener once and didn't mind hitting w/o a dampener - something I never do with polys.

I plan on buying more sets of this string!

I just played with a full bed of Poly Tour Spin. It feels good!!!
I strung them at 53/50 lbs on my Vcore 100s, and they felt plush, no boardy feel whatsoever.

Spin and control was really good, I could feel the strings biting into the ball. Wow... Power is perfect, just enough for me.

If it stays this good for a couple of weeks. I am getting rid of my gut/poly combo (saves me a bundle).

You guys should try it, it's only $8.95 on TW. A different feel to ALU Power or CoF, but I am really liking it a lot.

tistrapukcipeht 04-27-2012 10:31 AM

After around 10 hours of hitting with the Yonex Poly Tour Spin I will make a switch.

TopSpin is off the charts and I noticed that it sustains its ball bite for quite a bit of time, much better than Tecnifibre Black Code, or Luxilon Alu Power Spin, you can produce a really heavy ball, control low slices from opponents that skid and retrieve a nice ball with rpm, i make some really acute angles due to the ability of the string to grab when I on the side of the ball and of course because of the racquet which is light powerful with open pattern that allows me to play how I like it and hit shots that I am not able with smaller head sizes and tighter string patterns.

Feel isn't like Luxilon, because it is different, but it has a nice blend of comfort but not too soft, touch and good stiffness to provide the control, also keeping the playability consistent for longer time than Luxilon BB Original or Luxilon Fluoro, 2 string that I used quite a bit.

Tension maintenance is very good, I didn't expect the string not move at all, but it moves a little which doesn't bother me, again I use Yonex Ezone Xi, 100 sq in, 16x18, so I expect and understand it will move a little.

To me this is a great string, much better cost per playability there is, at 8.95 it is unbeatable what you get from it.

I will keep the poly Tour HS on my Ezone Xi Team Plus, the spin machine only to tame the power and spin a bit more.

XFactorer 04-27-2012 10:37 AM

So, after a week and a half of this string, it's starting to get "pingy." Anyone else notice this? I usually string every 2 weeks, anyway.

syke 04-28-2012 03:37 AM

In case anyone is wondering how the poly tour spin really plays in comparison with SPPP.

Power, SPPP has it more
Spin, YPTS is better
Control, YPTS
SPPP has more pop and a livelier feel than YPTS
YPTS seems to go easier on the arm when struck off center. I got micro vibrations with SPPP

hey i just popped my poly tour pro in my vcore98d today (much was strung less than a month ago urrg -_-) i'm thinking of trying the poly tour spin now. im really surprised because my string is the 130 gauge n its supposed to be more durable than the 125. i string it at 60. think i should go down? had it at 58 before. maybe 55 even tho the range is 50-65. thx

tistrapukcipeht 05-02-2012 06:03 PM

Poly Tour Spin will really help you with generating more spin ball bite and control, this is the best poly overall in my opinion right now.
