Lower Abdominal Region Pain while Serving
I recently started getting pain while using my hips more in my serve to generate in my serve. The pain is in the lower left side of my abdominal region. There is no bulge so I'm pretty sure it's not a hernia. The pain is there when I'm in the middle of my serve before I strike the ball.
Could be a sprain. Apply Ben Gay and take Doans.
How much do you work out off the court?
If you're not, you probably have overworked abdominal muscles that are not used to the movement inherent with greater hip action.
You may have to give the area some time to improve without playing.
Then before you come back work on your crunches, rotating sit ups on a slant board, and maybe some work with a medicine ball.
