I don't think indoor hardcourts are that bad for Nadal's game. He doesn't win indoors because he puts all his energy into winning Slams and the claycourt season. If there was an indoor hardcourt Slam, Nadal would have won it by now.

To beat Nadal, you need to be fully aggressive in your approach to the match. It's easier to do that when the conditions aren't present. More players would feel comfortable playing against Nadal indoors as his defense wouldn't be as impenetrable as it would be outdoors.
