Why can't players get kicked out of the tennis hall of fame?

You are only as good as your accomplishments relative to the entire history of your sport.

Therefore, why doesn't the tennis hall of fame kick out people whose accomplishments at first seemed good, but now appear ordinary, and just keep the top 5 players in history at the time.

For example, Federer's 17 slams look good now, but, if Federer ends on 17, and in 100 years time, 5 more players win over 25 slams each, those 5 should be in the tennis hall of fame, and Federer should be kicked out and forgotten.

Why doesn't it work like that?

Well Fed is not the HOF yet, though your motive for mentioning him in particular is rather obvious no doubt, but that example you give with the other 5 people will more hypothetical slams (assuming we are going by slams alone) is a stupid suggestion with all due respect...cause where does that leave all the other greats of the game, they should be kicked out too since they have less majors?

Is there a cash prize for dumbest thread that I am not aware of?

Exactly, kick them out.

^No.

They accomplished those stuff first, they shaped the game to the way that it would be in 100+years time. In other words, it's the younger generation that learns from the previous ones. Former greats should still be recognised for accomplishments in eras and shaping the game to what it is in the present or the future.

even if there is, 6-0 and Adolfman are so far ahead everyone that resistance is futile

El Diablo 08-04-2012 04:36 AM

Yes, this could be the oddest thread I've read. Let's also stop clamoring about what a bright guy Isaac Newton was since Einstein proved he was wrong about the relative motion of objects.

TeflonTom 08-04-2012 05:15 AM

why hasnt this spanner been banned yet

Djoker 08-04-2012 05:23 AM

The only former player that deservedly should be kicked out of the Hall is Bob Hewitt.
Nothing to do with his tennis related accomplishments, but more his 'extracurricular activities' .

But that's a thread for another time.

The OP may have problematic oedipal issues. A wish to "kick out the older generation" sometimes symbolically represents unresolved oedipal strivings, with the desire to kick out the elders representing a wish to banish the father from the childhood home, and take his place, because of unrepressed competition for the mother.

MTF07 08-04-2012 06:19 AM

Dumbest thread of all time.

I do not know, this one is pretty dumb too

syke 08-04-2012 12:41 PM

Great suggestion... They should also kick players out of the ATP who are constantly skipping tournaments due to injuries like Patellar Tendonitis..

This thread is beyond ridiculous

Kunohara 08-04-2012 12:58 PM

TTW should also kick out posters who start ******** threads.

JustBob 08-04-2012 01:10 PM

Definitely Trolling Hall of Shame material.

lambros 08-04-2012 01:50 PM

We have reached new lows with this thread. This is what happens when 10 year olds have access to the Internet.

Is Jan Kodes already a H.O.F member?
