US Open 2012 - Need Help!

Get to go to the US Open this year! Thursday the 30th with ground passes. Any idea on who will be playing? And also, what to bring? :D thanks!

Don't bring bags etc... So you can get express pass..

Idk who's playing.

Check the draws- should be 2nd or 3rd round.
Or simply check the schedule the day before on usopen.org

Do not bring backpack. The locker will cost about $5.00 to check in your backpack.

Is a gym sack okay? Like the drawstring Nike bags

kelawai 08-26-2012 04:31 PM

This is okay

Are the lockers big enough for a 22" rollaboard carry-on? Sort of like this style:
http://www.amazon.com/Travelpro-Lugg...board+carry+on

I will fly into JFK and my hotel is in Manhattan, so I would really like to go straight to the USO, put my carry on in a locker, and then go to the hotel after the matches.

Is this possible?

Also, anyone know what perks American Express offers to card holders?

There are Amex booths everywhere, stop by there with your card they will give you an ear radio you can listen to commentaries while watching the match. There was also a program where if spend a certain amount in the grounds with your Amex. They will tell you. Have fun!

I have no info on lockers for bags , sorry:(

Can I bring my igloo with me?

What's their policy on that ?

No thread hijack, but I'm going to be going on thursday as well probably. Would you guys recommend getting grounds passes in advance or could I do it the day of? My worst nightmare is buying tix and getting rained out.

Get there around 9am, there will be a line but you should be able to get tickets. Or check weather:)

Will we get a refund if it's rained out?

There is a lot of sun and little shade so you need sun tan lotion. Baseball cap?

If you plan to stay late sometimes it gets cool so a sweat shirt might be nice. Jeans are an option for the sun during the day and possible cool temps at night.

I believe that bags up to some size are allowed but check on the USTA website. If you don't have anything to inspect there is an express line to enter.

This site also has draw sheets & the day's schedule to print and a map of the numbered courts. But the schedule may not be available until late tonight/or early tomorrow morning.

There are many things to see on Smartphones also, current match scores - maybe someone will suggest. LAST YEAR I SAW A WOMAN DROP & LOSE HER SMARTPHONE UNDER THE STANDS THROUGH THE SEAT OPENING.

Food - there are some turkey salads sold between the Grandstand and Armstrong that are very good (the same concession is also the first on the right after entering). Great ice cream cones are about $9........... Bottled water $2.50-3.00. They have a shortage of water fountains and there may be long lines for a few of them. Buy a bottle of water outside the gate for $1 and carry it in. Keep the bottle to refill. Don't wait in restroom lines, walk 2 minutes to find others.

I going also, have a great US Open!!
