HELP- Yonex RDS 001MP Upgrade
Hi,
I have the Yonex RDS 001 MP, with lead at 9 and 3 I absolutely LOVE the racquets, but theyre old, and they are slowly deteriorating. I plan on using them until they break, but when that comes, I do not want to search for new identical racquets online. I would rather play it safe and purchase a new modern model, so I was wondering, what is closest to my 001mp? (take into account my added lead) |
The obvious choice would be the Yonex VC95D. Similar to the RDS001 MP, but with slightly more power, a less harsh feel and better manouverability. IMO, the 95D has all of the plus points of the RDS and addresses it's weaknesses.

Played with RDS001 mid and now has switched to Vcore Tour 89. Loved it, better control, more power (although still low powered) and a better flex. It is kind of an improve of version of RDX 500 mid + RDS001 mid combined. Thus, I think switching from RDS001 MP to Vcore Tour 97 would be seamless. But of course, I have totally skipped the Vcore 95 D and Vcore 98 D, so I can't say anything about that.

What about the Radical PRO?

I agree, the Tour 89 is the real deal. I used to play with the RDS001 and found it acceptable, but a bit stiff and dead feeling. The Tour 89 is an upgrade in every facet of the frame. The higher swingweight improves the power a bit and the control is also improved with the tighter pattern. The flex for the 89 is strange -- it's firm but transmits a lot of feel. The upper hoop also seems more responsive. Both serve great, but the Tour 89 seems to swing a bit faster. All in all, if the 95 is anything like the 89, then the VCORE series is a winner. I haven't played with Yonex in 3 years, but man this new frame is awesome. |

Just upgrade to Vcore 97 then ultimately transition to Vcore 89 (89 actually is more solid all-around than 97; 97 naturally got better spin but that's about it).:)

What about a non-yonex alternative?
|
...a non Yonex racquet would be Head IG Extreme 2.0 MP.
