Best leather grip brand??

I want some more weight on my prostaff 95 so im gonna put a primary leather grip on it. Are all leather grips the same or do diferent brands make different grips??

Roger Wawrinka 09-23-2012 03:28 PM

Leather grips are mostly the same. Some may be thinner or thicker then others but that's about it. I would recommend Babolat leather grips rather then Wilson but that's just me. I think they are better quality. You can buy both of them at TW.

Thanks man and do you know which one is heavier cause the prostaff 95 is kinda light so want some extra weight on it

GenesisTurbo 09-23-2012 04:28 PM

i personally prefer HEAD Leather Grips because with it on i can feel the bevels the best, i have them on all 3 APDGT.

So would that mean the head leather grip is thinner than others?

GenesisTurbo 09-23-2012 08:20 PM

i don't know if it's the thinnest but imo it feels the best, i guess it's all preference.

good luck

Eugene Choi 09-24-2012 09:23 AM

Roger Wawrinka 09-25-2012 05:44 PM

Sorry Eugene Choi. I have been really busy lately. If you still want the weights of the leather grips I can do it for you as soon as I can.

Eugene Choi 09-26-2012 03:24 AM

I've tried mostly everything and to be honest, TW is the best offering in my opinion

mad dog1 09-27-2012 03:39 PM

i've tried alot of brands and i prefer the Fairway grips over everything else. the TW leather grips are too dry and rough. i have found that applying shoe polish and some elbow grease, the feel and softness improves greatly.

Are you planning on using an overgrip? I've found that wider leather grips such as Babolat work best with Tournagrip's offerings (especially the XL) where if you're using an overgrip that isn't as wide such as Yonex you're better off with Gamma or Head. As to weight, I've tried Gamma, Babolat and Head and I feel the Babolat (which I use) grip is the heavier of the three. The Head grip is thin and really gives you sharp edges but is probably the lightest of the three.

Yep. Balmforth Fairway calf skin grips are the b.o.m.b.

I looked into this too when I put leather on my racket to add some weight and make it a little headlight.

The heaviest available to me was the Wilson and it wraps really well.

Eugene Choi 10-08-2012 07:47 PM

Thanks everyone i decided on the xpacific leather grip weight seemed good, if too light ill go for the wilson one.
