tennis racket bag as carry on?
lots of airlines state that you can bring a tennis racket on board as a carry on, but does anyone have recent experience taking a racket bag (the type that fits 6 or 9 rackets in it-although we'd only have 3 or 4) on as a carry on? i would avoid packing anything other than the rackets in it so that i could make it look as narrow as possible, but the dimensions will still clearly be larger than a typical carry on bag. trying to figure out if i need to buy some sort of thermal bag in case the airline makes me check it. this would be a us domestic flight, btw. tia.

I flew round trip on Southwest last week with no issue. I've got a pretty standard Head bag and had two racquets, shoes, a couple cans of balls, and that's about it. Wasn't a problem, but I wore it in backpack mode so I don't think it drew much attention. That said, it does not take up much space in the bin and if you lay it on its side, you can fit smaller suitcases in front of it.

I travel weekly and take my 12 pack as carry on without any issues......even when I'm with family or going to a tourny all of us have 9 or 12 packs loaded and we carry on.
