Maui Tennis in December 2012 Recomendations?

I am in Maui for a week starting December 9, 2012, and am looking for tennis opportunities during my week stay. I can play matches or do clinics/lessons as long as the tennis is fun and I get to meet people. I am a male 4 - 4.5 and can play singles or doubles. I am staying over by the Wailea Tennis Club so will first try that but up for other thoughts also.

Maybe I will see you out on the court. BTW I will be the no tan dude coming from -20 in Canada.

I stayed and played at the Royal Lahaina

Pick up games or organized matches / clinics? Positive review?

No, just took lessons, as a way to get to play. I did not know anyone, so there was no choice. After the lessons, I was allowed to continue to play other guys who had taken lessons, as a bonus. In theory, they should have charged me for the court time. But the lesson was expensive enough.

Been to both places and took a lesson with Kaz at Royal Lahaina and thoroughly enjoyed my time at both places. If I had a chance to go back, I would play at the Royal Lahaina due to the friendlier staff. There are plenty of places to play in Maui but finding someone is not easy. Car is definitely needed if you plan on visiting both places as they are quite a distance from each other.

Yes, now I remember! I took lessons from the same guy.

I'll be going to Royal Lahaina tomorrow, and yeah, the lady at the front desk was super nice when I asked for info on court time and stuff.

Further down are 3 red clay courts for people staying at the kaanapali alii. I've only played on har tru once when I was young so to see those in person was kind of cool. Bummed I couldn't hit on them.

I think next year I'll plan a trip to a resort that has all the different surfaces...

Well I am off and will comment upon return

Looking forward to tennis in Maui. Looks like most my playing will be at the Wailea complex
