Do you really think that ATP would have really boycotted the AO?
There was this talk around about the ATP boycotting the AO... it has always sounded to me as a huge BS.... ups...
Now people are "releaved" after the prize money increase has been increased. http://www.tennis.com/news/2012/10/a.../#.UGzzzE3Mjy2 Do you think that players like the big 4 would have ever renounced to go to the AO? Can you think about Murray not going? Or Federer/Djokovic/Nadal. And what about the others? |
It was done at 1973 Wimbledon, and it can be done again in the future.

Unless it actually happens, I wouldn't assume they would.
Today's top players are chasing history, they're not going to want to miss the first major of the year, and the protest won't have nearly as much of an impact without them. |

There was never any boycott, but the reality is that they want movement on prize money and every bit of leverage, even bluff, is useful.

I can't see it happening ever IMO. If it did, then the organisers would just have some type of WTF arrangement and invite the top 24 players to contest it.
Do you honestly believe, the top tier players would give up the chance of racking up 2,000 ranking points and $2m prize money? Not a chance in hell they wouldn't. Hell, they should just skip all the early rounds and just play the SFs with Fed/Djok/Rafa/Muzz :D The sponsors would love that. |

Former world no. 3 Nikolay Davydenko has also criticized Roger Federer for the Swiss' stance on player grievances. “I don’t know why Roger is not supporting the players,” Davydenko said. “Because he don’t want... any problems. He’s nice guy. He’s winning grand slams. He’s from Switzerland. He’s perfect. He don’t want to do anything, he just try to be an outsider from this one.” “The ATP should try to do something between now and Indian Wells [the popular tournament held in California in the second week of March]. For sure, all the top 100 players will go there and just see what will be changed.” ![]() |
There goes Milos's only chance to win a slam.

I wish, This selfish arrogant moron to retire soon. Seriously. nadal is arrogant selfish moron. |
RAFA2005RG .
You became Davydenko's fan when? have won all the games to Nadal in the hard court. Davydenko had said a selfish hope that all should have been three-set match again. Present I do not like Davydenko. Nadal should also boycott RG for ego two-years-ranking. If Nadal is acting truly for other players. lol. And again, Roger is an ATP players' association's chairman still now. From ATP players' hope. An interesting thing. |
don't think so. btw. what happened with Mr. Pilic and other players back in 70's was a completely different thing, if you want to find out just google it.
I deeply agree that lower ranked players should make more money. We have top 4 divas making more money from their endorsements than probably the rest of the tour. Djokovic, Fed, Nadal or Mandy don't even need any prize money. They are beyond rich. Sure, they earned it. no problem there, but there are so many pro guys who can hardly pay for their hotel expenses and their flight tickets. It's all about the distribution thing. there are articles about this all over the net. just too many lower ranked guys who actually don't hesitate to talk/twit about it. easy to find out if you really follow tennis. kinda sucks. I love tennis and lower ranked guys should be payed more money. like much more. many people don't realize how expensive tennis is. I'm a tennis nut, not sure why, but when I was a kid, I bagged my dad to enroll me in a local tennis club.I was like so young, saw Borg and fell in love with tennis. He said, anything else but we can't afford tennis, too much money. I was so crushed. My huge, humongous, super support goes to young pro players. |
Yeah I agree with that, the prize money for the lower ranked guys is stupidly small considering the travel expenses etc...But having said that the money for winning a grand slam should far eclipse the winnings of someone who only makes the 2nd round of an ATP 250. I imagine it's pretty tough to balance.

when I talk about big4, it's like imagine some 4 guys having everything in your own country. In any society you have to have mid class guys. it doesn't matter if you are a mechanic, or a salesman or a tennis player. you should be able to do your work and pay your bills. not a communist here, but still :) |

Rafa is going to be winning slams for the next 5 years :D, so I recommend you become a fan. |

http://www.sportingintelligence.com/2011/10/30/revealed-official-english-football-wage-figures-for-the-past-25-years-301002/ These are the wages of footabllers in the UK. I imagine the 4th tier Football players who no one really cares much about probably make more than alot of guys on even the ATP circuit. Let alone those on the Challenger tour. Pretty said in my opinion. |
