Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention
Fans? Been loving the 2012 reissues. All the 60's albums are classics.
|
Still have all the orginal LP's, some great stuff. Also a lot of fun to see in concert.
|
One of my first concerts I attended...tiny Tully Gym on FSU campus; I was still in high school. Incredibly before his time, his imagination was a treasure!
Bily was a mountain, Ethel was a tree Growing on his shoulder Centerville...a nice place to raise your kids up! It has churches (churches, churches, churches) And liquor stores (liquor stores, liquor stores, liquor stores)! |
Zappa was brilliant, weird and fun.......classic was watching them live on the Original SNL back in the mid 70s. Caught them a few times in college (not sure if they were the "real" MOI but Zappa was fronting hem and calling them that in the early 80s.

Zappa actually fired Lowell George because he knew George was too good for the Mothers, and needed to start his own band in order to achieve greatness, which he did.

' Brown Shoes don't make it...oh yea, I remember, at the time some stores wouldn't even carry it.

If UConn & UW match up on a field or court, would you "watch out where the Huskies go"?

A prune isn't really a vegatable...
CABBAGE is a vegatable Bought a pristine 'Mothermania' vinyl LP and transferred it to CD (wore the grooves out on my original). A fav to this day. One of his traditional NYC Halloween concerts ('81 at the Palladium) was broadcast live on MTV (remember 'music' tv?) and is available on DVD entitled "The Torture Never Stops" - a recomended look/listen to. |

My most fond musictian of all time.
Love the art given to us by zappas music, and for one i am sad that nowadays no one has the right atitude to joke upon the joke that are most actual performers these days. Long live this guys music "The brain is like a parachute, it doesn't work unless its open" im 30 now and still thankfull to my older sister to have introduce me into zappa when i was 14 thanks sis |
They were at the best place around.
|
I don't always eat bagels but when I do I like to "Zappa" it with a little (Suzy) Creamcheese...in honor of the most interesting musician in the world! RIP, Freewheeling Frank.

(i mean, no garage bands back in the day played "Peaches en Regalia" ...except for one - us) ;-) curious...here...and on the "worst band: rem or chillis?" thread: ...like, what's with all the beatle-bashing lately on TW-TT? "The idiot bastard son the father's a Nazi in Congress today, the mother's a hooker somewhere in L.A. The idiot boy!.. ...try and imagine the window all covered with greed all the time he would spend, at the church he'd attend warming his pew.. Kenny will feed him and Robbie will watch the child will thrive and grow, and enter the world of liars and cheaters and people like you who smile and think you know, what this is about You think you know everything, maybe so, the song we sing, do you know?...we're listening... ...try and imagine the window all covered with greed all the time he would spend, all the colors he'd blend where are they now???" Nice Finnish Zappa Tribute Band version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZAY6fyzlQEA |
I wasn't introduced to Zappa until college but still have the songs in regular rotation. I mean, who wouldn't like a song called "My guitar wants to kill your mama"? Or "Girl, you thought he was a man, but he was a muffin" (The Muffin Man). I'm sure Dedans is quite familiar with likely my favorite lyric "Don't fool yourself girl..." something about chutes. :)

I just wanted to add that the Beatles are overrated hacks.
