Hitting partner at the North Shore Oahu HAWAII December 2012

It would be nice to practice/match with somebody at least NTRP 3.5/4 level on the North Shore Hawaii this month (December). I have a rental car and can meet you up even somewhere in the middle of the island (ex. Millilani?)

Just PM me if interested. thanks

What exact dates will you be on Oahu?

LeeD 12-01-2012 04:55 PM

Just curious, I haven't been there since the early '90's.
Turtl**** had dozens of quality courts.
One behind the parking lot at Wiamea, really decrepit and worn out, no net.
One in Haliewa, worse condition, not playable.
One at Comstock, up the hill from Sunset, grass a foot high coming up thru the cracks, no net.
Is that the status quo still?

Play the pro at Turtle Bay. If you win its free. I won. It was fun.

LeeD 12-05-2012 01:03 PM

How did you find that deal?
I stayed at Turtl****'s rooms by the water for 2 weeks, a win at some lottery. Twas in '85, I'd played my last Q in SanFrancisco in '70, but hadn't touched a racket even once by '85. I didn't see anyone who could play at those nice courts. Our room, 110 or so, was right where you paddle out to surf at Turtl****'s wierdo right reef that the Women's SunsetBeach Pro is held. That is a BAD wave, shifty, changy, and oftentimes very short.

I think that offer stands for all Peter Burwash tennis facilities.

Hey LeeD, if you separated your words like us ordinary folk do, you would not have the problem with the censoring software.

LeeD 12-06-2012 01:10 PM

But then you would not know who to chide and take potshots at. I just make it easy for all you guys.

sureshs 12-06-2012 06:19 PM

We make fun of you because we love you so much

LeeD 12-06-2012 08:36 PM

And I"m a blowhard who obsesses with what he thinks he might have done once upon a time.

Sounds like your a surfer? Did you get any waves out there? Sunset and Waimea this time of year can get gnarly.

LeeD 12-08-2012 01:33 PM

Yeah, I'd finished my 25 year commitment to surfing by then. Lived near OceanBeachSanFrancisco and mostly surfed there, one of the big wave riders from the beginning (1966, made my first 9'7" x 19" gun). Shaped 150 boards for myself and one bud, then shaped another 250 for WiseSurfboards, the one at CabrilloSt. and GreatHighway.
Been to Oahu maybe 14 trips total, but only 6 for pure surfing. Normally only from Dec. thru April, as home is best from Nov-Jan.
Got my 50 days at Pipe, any size, and over that at Sunset. Found out I had buds living at KuilimaCondos and left my boards there, usually from 7'6" to 9'6" guns.
I was in the credits of BankWright's SurfingCalifornia, but after 15 years, got left out. I advised in over 20 spots.

LeeD is GOATing surfing posts in the rear of the van tonight.

Suresh is trying to dismantle him mentally without success.

Epic.

Need more popcorn.

sureshs 12-08-2012 02:09 PM

LeeD got only a few hundred posts till he becomes a Talk Tennis Guru

LeeD 12-08-2012 02:17 PM

Nah, there's a couple other guys waaaaay ahead of us, but I haven't seem them on here lately.
You know, the reason I"m on here so often is that I have no friends, right?

Nice! That rip at OB can be pretty tough.

Surfing and tennis are my two favorite sports. Well, surfing's not really a sport but we won't get into that.
