SKLZ sport radar

Saw this relatively cheap radar device at the local department store for about $100. I am curious whether anyone on the board has tried this thing to record speeds for serves and groundstrokes. I am suspect as to how accurate this device is considering the price point.

I have some portable golf radar units that are a similar price, and they are surprisingly accurate. You can capture clubhead speed and ball speed pretty easily, and the results compare well to what you would get with a high-end launch monitor.

So I went a head and bought one at the big blue joint and it was certainly a disappointing experience. I tried positioning the thing in every reasonable location but it would rarely register the incoming balls. I would hit a dozen serves with no results and think perhaps it shut off but lo and behold it finally gives me a number on the 13th ball, not a correct number mind you but at least I knew it was on. Needless to say I returned it that same day.

No guarantees it works but it's only a couple of $$

I use their string tension app.
