New String? Tour Bite Soft
has anyone heard if solinco is going to be releasing a new string called Tour Bite Soft?
|
You obviously have, where did you hear this? Pretty silly name if so.
|
my friend mentioned to me last night that his stringer had a few sets of new tour bite soft. i figured it was something new but when i went to the solinco website and TW to buy some -- it doesn't exist.
i'm trying to see if anyone else has heard that solinco is releasing a new softer version of tour bite. |
I've never heard of it myself, but I'm not in the know. They did just release 1.10mm Tour Bite, however.
|
okay take it with a grain of salt.
but the new "soft" version of tour bite is in the trial stages. some stringers are getting sets to test out. my buddy's stringer has it in 16 gauge and says it plays like a more arm friendly tour bite (duh). no release date set and the stringer doesn't know if they are planning 17 and 18 gauge versions. |
Is it the Solinco playtest from last summer?
|
i don't know meat. i can't imagine it taking a whole year to test out some new strings. this must be something different.
good idea though from solinco if this is true. a softer version of tour bite for us arm sufferers. |
hey monkey nice screen name
|
yea Soft Bite just doesnt have the ring to it :)
|
Yes it will be released in 2013 in gauges 16-18 from what I have been told. I have had the 17 gauge for awhile now and its a nice string. The softness is a bit closer to their BarbWire in my opinion. It is noticeably more comfortable than the standard Tour Bite. I have some more coming my way next week in 16 gauge this time. My contact at Solinco only told me it will be released in 2013, he didn't give a specific month.

I like it. I was going to suggest a different level of the Tour. Something along the lines of Futures Nibble or Challenger Gnaw.
Other interesting Solinco notes: Tru-Feel is discontinued but a new multi will replace it next year. It will still be softer than Vanquish. Tour Bite is made in a 15g! |
Why would they add a 19g and a 15g? Seriously, 1.3+, 1.30, 1.25, 1.20, 1.18, 1.10. Do they need SIX gauges of the same string to suit all tastes? Personally, I think that the 16L is the best (1.25) followed by the 18g for super tight patterns.
|
I don't think they have any plans to make 15g available at retail. I asked them for suggestions on a frequent string breaker i play with and they let me know i had the option to use it. I like the 16L too. The 19 was nice feeling, I just felt like it lacked the power to get the ball deep into the court compared to the other gauges.

Me too. He said they aren't replenishing anybody's supply of it. The exception is that for now they have a bunch of the Revolution/Tru-Feel hybrid packs that they will still make available for retailers. I'm going to ask him for some samples of the new multi the next time I catch up with him so that I can get a read on what it's like. I know Tru-Feel wasn't a big seller for them but I really liked the feel of it.

Tour Gum?
The same bite, but without the teeth. |
