Ektelon D or E...do I fix or upgrade
I have 2 machines...one is new and at my sons. I have an older Ektelon and am thinking about getting it back up and running. I think its like an old Model D or E. I used it for years and it was monumentally reliable and so easy to string on. But the tension head broke last year and I cant fix it (its probably fixable I am just not able). So I have looked at misc upgrades. The mounting system is probably outdated. Anyway I am wondering whether to go new,....or to buy a Wise or find a used tension head somewhere. A used Ektelon H or NEOS machine would be good. Thoughts? I have the oppty to buy a an Eagnas tension head...would it fit on an old machine? I just string my own racquets maybe a couple a week so perfection is not necessary.

You can check out some upgrades at the site below:

www.tennismachines.com is probably your best bet. They can repair whatever issue you have.

The last time I heard someone sending a tensioner to Tennis Machines for service cost $125, but it came back practically brand new.
As trying to find a used Wise 2086 Pro, Good luck! They rarely come up and to get it serviced out of warranty (sometimes in warranty) will cost $75 plus shipping back and forth. |
I have experience with both the after-market upgrade kit and tennismachines--I have restored/upgraded a number of Ektelons (Ds, DEs, etc.). I can recommend both. Suggest you start with a call to tennis machines regarding your tension head and take it from there. I don't know if the Eagnas tension head fits that machine but again, check with tennis machines first, then take action. Good luck.
