Wilson pro staff classic 85 prototype ?

Not sure if the Wilson pro staff classic 85 with the all black paint job is a prototype ?
Its pictured with the Edberg pro staff original paint job and an early chicago pro staff and the stock pro staff classic.
Many other pictures in the same folder can be viewed.
Anyone know the story or have seen those stealth rackets before ?

A question for Equijet

Very interesting frame. Very rare IMO. I don't recall ever seeing a retail version of this 85. Looks similar to the custom Graf Prostaff 85 and the Edberg Classic 85 (non SV version) that Equijet showed us in the past.

Perhaps Equijet can chime in?

Do you have the specs on this frame? Looks to be 22 mm in width and 18 x 20 string pattern. Is it standard length (i.e., 27 inches)? Any idea the static weight?

Nonetheless, unique frame you have there. Thanks for sharing with us.

I do not have the specs and am away from the rackets now on winter vacation. I think you questions are correct and if you scroll thru some of the other pictures using the bottom scroller you can see the 85 head size and beam width comparisons.

Look forward to reading Equijet opinions ...

This picture shows it over the retail classic:

not sure if I understand you correctly, but the all black frame looks more like the ps classic 6.1 95 than like the ps 6.0 85... Beautiful racket, the 85 with the classic PJ!

Yes, I think Equijet might be able to provide some insight into the frame as he owns the Edberg Classic PS 6.1 85 and the Graf PS 7.0 85.

I'm just speculating here but some specs look to be:

-85 square inches head size
-18 x 20 string pattern
-22 mm beam width
-27 inches length

Love to get the measurements on your prototype when you get back. Enjoy your vacation!

I believe your speculation is correct and will confirm when I get back to the rackets. Will also get the weight and balance.

I finally took a closer look at these rackets and determined your speculates were correct. Also interesting that the weight of the classic 85 was the same as for the ps85 StV models that were used for the classic paintjobs for Stephen Edberg, both are 376g or 13.25 oz unstrung. I also noticed the the candidate ps85 StV rackets for paint jobbing for Edberg were marked "se-10x" for example se-103 as can be seen at the below link:

Interesting.... I may have seen those racquets some where in other forums but still interesting....

Quite sure it means most of pros back then loved the 85 size than 95 since it has more control....

I started to play tennis with ps 85 anyways and I thought the racquet was superb~!!

Wilson Pro Staff Classic with Pro Staff Original paint scheme

To add another paint scheme to the mix:

This is the opposite of Stefan Edberg's Pro Staff Original with the Pro Staff Classic paint scheme:

It is a Pro Staff Classic with a paint scheme similar to that of the Pro Staff Original.

As you can see, it has a classic beam, is 95sqin, and has a 16x18 string pattern.

I have two of these, and the strung specs (of the other one) are:

341.5g, 30.0cm, 298kgcm2
