NRG2 fraying period?
 

Wondering if NRG2 can last a while once the fraying starts or if that is pretty much the end? I've only hit with it maybe 3 times and I have a tournament in a week. I'm not a string breaker at all in general (I get several months out of cheap 17g syngut) but I'm not familiar with this string. Playing with an 18x19 pattern.

How long does NRG2 last for you once the fraying starts?

I tried it as a cross string with Big Banger Ace mains. Like you I am not a chronic string breaker either. I put it in on the Tuesday, played an awesome match on the Tuesday evening with it, played a few other doubles matches and it broke by Friday. I used the 1.24mm version. It was awesome first time out, then it just fell apart and snapped in coaching on the Friday.

To answer your question more directly, it doesn't last very long after the fraying!

My experience with 16g NRG2 was similar in a fullbed setup....once it started to fray I had 2 to 3 hours before breaking it.
I'm curious about your 17g syngut that lasted months....can you tell us a bit more about it?

it goes rocketlaunch when it starts fraying more. Try Prince Premier LT.

If you have 1 week, you should play with it until 2 days before then re-string. Then make sure you get a hit or 2 in, to get used to new strings
You should probably also buy a 2nd racquet. You should always have at least 1 spare if you're playing tournaments

Just to report back, I did get at least 5 more sessions out of it. It actually only finally broke today hitting wet, heavy balls on a moist court for a good while! This was the 1.24. So, a good bit longer than I thought!

Forten Sweet 17 in an MG Rad at 50 lbs. Also Gosen Micro 17/Forten 17 hybrid (yes, really, I like it!) in the Rad and Kblade 104, also 50 lbs. I'm a typical 4.5, all shots aggressive topspin, don't know why but never get less than a couple months out of a string job and almost always end up cutting them out before breaking. Even in an APDC, hybrids last interminably!
