If the strung balance is X, what would the unstrung balance be?
 

What would the balance be of the following racquets if they were unstrung?

Racquet A - 6HL (strung)
Racquet B - 8HL (strung)

Assume that the strings weigh 16g. I'm also assuming that the specs which TW publish are strung specs.

according to my experience strings plus dampener usually move the balancepoint up by about 1cm, that being around 3/8 of an inch that being 3 points.
but i am sure that if you check with the website of the manufacturer you get the unstrung specs which usually are also printed on the sticks.

My sticks usually a difference of about 2pts.

If the strung balance is x centimeters the unstrung balance will be x-1 centimeters. 1 centimeter = ~3 "points", so a strung stick with 6HL balance would be 9HL unstrung.

I think it would be different with racquets with different weights. But about a few points.

Yeah, 1 centimeter sounds about right. I just checked my notes for a typical stock, un-customized Pro One. Mass unstrung 310. Mass Strung 326. So strings add 16 grams. Unstrung balance at 315mm. Strung balance at 5 points HL... (326.75 mm). So 11.75 mm difference which is 1.175 cm. Close enough for Jazz given the points system is a built upon the Jazzy notion of rounding off to the nearest 1/8 of an inch.
