Simon vs Monfils - 71 Shot Rally
I wonder if Sampras saw this point and was like "WTF?"
I saw it on the match... won't watch it again unless someone pays me.
Monfils is the Javale McGee of tennis. He thinks he's a grinder when he's not. You can't outlast Simon.
Isn't it funny how sometimes pro matches seem to have slower pace than college tennis? I can't really imagine a Division I college tennis point played at that pace. I mean some of the shots were decently hit, but half the rally was pattycaking.
Simon you waste of space. Did he even want to win that point? That is pushing of the highest degree. Murray could not top that.
And people wonder why I criticize Simon.
Looks like they were warming up/practicing.
The thing is Monfils is so talented... saw this guy at the US Open up close and was in awe. I mean, if he somehow could get his mind right, he would be very very dangerous.

About as amusing as 8:00 AM lectures

Out clowning the clown!

sad.
not much else to say. |
Monfils applied pressure on maybe five shots. Simon applied pressure on just one, I think.
I've seen more exciting inauguration poets.
To compensate things, let's look at this (and this was 1995 Wimbledon, when they introduced a spongier/slower ball than before) : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kshnzLGBjWM
I'm pretty sure they were both dead tired at this point. I think Monfils had blisters on his hands and Simon's legs and knees were shot
I'd almost rather watch Wozniaki play Wozniaki.
simon had about two attacking shots, the rest was "putting the ball back in play".
I mean it's nice to see such a long rally for once but jeez, how boring would it be to see a whole game like this (not even talking about a set or match!) |
