Who has brighter future out of these youngsters?

Out of these guys, who do you think will have a huge success?

pvaudio 01-27-2013 05:18 PM

None. As history has shown us, the best young talent does one of two things: comes out of obscurity with no fuss and simply results (Nadal) OR is consistently great until they break through (Federer, Djokovic) OR is a mix of both (Sampras). All of these guys like the spotlight too much and will always be at best dark horses.

THE DON WILL WIN CYGS. NEVER UNDERESTIMATE THE DON!!!
But seriously, Tomic seems to be on the rise and currently is probably the best of the lot in terms of outlook. But pvaudio is right in that they'll never be a Roger or Rafa

No mention of Janowicz? Of all of those mentioned so far I would have to give it to Milos, who has had the most success so far.

rk_sports 01-27-2013 06:36 PM

Young is on that list.. lol

and not Jerzy?

forzamilan90 01-27-2013 06:46 PM

Obligatory Grigor Dimitrov vote from me

flyinghippos101 01-27-2013 06:53 PM

I truly think we're in for a generation of stinkers. I think Milos will probably be in for the most success in the future out of the bunch, but at the moment its just about picking the best from a group of turds

timaru50 01-27-2013 06:54 PM

Is this a serious list add Ricardis Berankis to the list and get rid of Donald Young!

timaru50 01-27-2013 06:59 PM

Soon you might add Stefan KOZLOV age 14 USA playing and winning at age 14 in Futures events.

According to these boards, Dolgopolov is still an up-and-coming youngster, so this thread is a fail I'm afraid.

Someone has to rise up. I'm not liking Harrison's chances. He tries to play the loopy defensive Roddick tennis which will get him nowhere. Roddick must be teaching him that the way to win matches is to stand 10 feet behind the baseline. I think Grigor is going to be pretty good. He has all the shots and some real weapons. He will be in good shape if he keeps improving.

papertank 01-27-2013 07:28 PM

Donald Young is the same age as Del Potro, so unless you want to put him here too I think Young shouldn't be included. Not that he even has a chance to be successful anyway.

soyizgood 01-27-2013 07:46 PM

The up and coming batch on the ATP is just sad. Only 5 guys have won majors since FO 2005 (Nadal, Federer, Djokovic, Del Potro, Murray). These young guns listed give me little reason to suggest that will change over the next few years.

THE FIGHTER 01-27-2013 07:55 PM

dimitrov will be the best of the bunch.

he is the only one with the answer against rafa, which is the only measurement of greatness they need to worry about, especially considering nads will be FIGHTING for his ranking of around 8 or 9, similar with these guys.

veroniquem 01-27-2013 07:55 PM

Tomic. Raonic and Young are not that young anymore.

NadalAgassi 01-27-2013 07:59 PM

Janowicz will have a better career than all these mugs. I think he will surprise people and win a slam or two. Raonic and Tomic will never win a slam other than mixed doubles.

that will definitely be a surprise, to say the least.

He's only a year younger than Djokovic, and is same age as Delpo and Cilic.

slowfox 01-28-2013 09:56 AM

I voted for Bernie. But I keep getting the feeling that someone under the radar will rise and put all the pretenders to shame.

I wasn't being serious. Fact is many on here still think Dolgo is one of them young guns.
