Going to try the future circuit

So I am the point now where I am going to try to futures circuit. I have been having good results lately and want to see how far I can take my game. I have a few hitting buddies who are ranked top 1000 in the world and I am about at their level now, so I want to see how far I can go in the futures tournaments. his is just for myself to see how far I can go with my game. I plan on playing my first futures tournament in april. I will post some videos of my training in the meantime and post results when I start playing the tournaments for anyone who is interested :)

I know I will never actually make in on the pro tour, my goal is to get a few wins in the futures circuit and just just some kind of atp ranking. I teach for a living, and don't plan on trying to go pro or anything, I am just doing this for myself to see how far I can go. Thanks for the encouraging replies. I want to keep this threat alive for the whole time during training and playing. I will definitely post a training video in the next week.

Good luck. Having tried that route many, many years ago, I can tell you the most important thing you will have to have is some sort of financial backing. It isn't cheap. You either have to be rich on your own or have a rich buddy. :-) Until you reach the top 200, you'll be paying for most of everything. The most expensive thing will be the travel costs.

I really, really, wish you success. It's great that you're able to do something that many people dream of.

Best of luck. I look forward to your updates. Not sure where you're located, but Decatur, IL has a Futures tournament in late July/early August. It's not far from me so if you make it to that one, I'll come out to cheer you on.

If Horacio can beat Nadal, you can do it too

cluckcluck 02-12-2013 09:08 AM

If you come out to the Claremont Futures or Costa Mesa Futures, let me know. I'll come support you!

stringertom 02-12-2013 02:41 PM

Good luck with your dreams! Will that April date include the USTA Futures swing in Florida? The first of those is in Vero Beach and I was lucky enough to do the stringing for them for seven years until I gave it up last spring. It's a very well run tourney on Har Tru at a nice club. The qualie draw is a 128-size so you've got to win four times to get main draw. Make sure you're well rested...that's a lot of tennis!
