Baby Fed said big Fed is the GOAT.

Speranza 02-17-2013 12:00 PM

Is it me, or does Baby Fed have eyes like an alien in the short interview excerpt?

mariecon 02-17-2013 12:43 PM

Would love to see these two play against each other.

Fed looking after the Baby version:

"Dimitrov on Fed comparisons:

“We recently had lunch together in Australia. We spoke a lot about this issue and straightened it out. The good thing was that we agree.”"

They will only play when Fed is ready to pass the torch

Dimitrov's forehand is nowhere near as smooth or nice-looking as Federer's

Dimitrov was not at all impressive watching him live, not too smart, and sometimes overdoing it...

TennisCJC 02-19-2013 05:39 AM

I like Dimitrov but it is yet to be seen if he can get close to Federer's skill level. Dimitrov is fun to watch and is playing better so far this year, but his game seems to be a little more based on power than Fed's. To me Fed's game is more fluid and varied. Federer strokes look more synchronous and coordinated than anyone I have ever seen. Dimitrov has a bigger frame and movement is an issue at times. Maybe, he drops 5 lbs and works hard on movement/balance to become the next Federer. But, I do appreciate the beauty of the 1 HBH and variety that Federer and Dimitrov bring to the game. Hopefully, Grigor can at least get to top 8 so we can watch some 1 HBH variety vs the slew of 2 HBH players out their.

Grigor Dimitrov practice with Roger Federer in Rotterdam...

:D

Clever. Embrace and suffocate.

The Federer comparisons don't do anything good for Dimitrov, IMO. They only create unrealistic expectations.

I like Dimitrov and think he's got the talent to be a future slam winner. And, it is true that his style is reminiscent of Federer, but he's his own player. The guy has risen in the rankings every year, and now at the age of 21 he's reached a career high of 34 and likely to keep going up as the season progresses. Yet, because he was compared to Federer as a teen, his career to date is viewed as a disappointment. The days of Becker winning Wimbledon at 17(?) are likely gone. It's a mans game for sure nowadays. I'd say Dimitrov is right on schedule. He just needs to keep improving and work on being consistent day in and day out.

Is it too much to ask to see a damn match between these two? Seriously, who thinks this would bring in some major fans? Honestly, after seeing Grigor play doubles with Marcos, I'd like to see Roger and Grigor team up and play some doubles. It would be entertaining... either that or a singles exhibition match between them in NY. That would be cool.

spinovic 02-21-2013 06:02 AM

Or, hopefully they'll just get together in a main draw somewhere. Is Dimitrov going to be in Dubai? There's still a chance. I think it would be a highly entertaining, straight set win for Fed.
