nCode 90 Grommets?

These seem to have disappeared from the face of the earth. Neither version of BLX 90 grommets fit, much to my chagrin.

Any super secret resources that y'all can divulge? Help a brother out...

Call wilson they can tell you if another racket's grommet will fit. I would think TW could too.

bcart1991 02-18-2013 06:50 AM

Wilson was less than helpful. "Did you try any of the other 90-series grommets? They didn't work? Sorry, can't help you."

I've also been in touch with KlipperUSA, they're usually a good resource, but they got bad info from Wilson as that's who sent me the BLX2 version that didn't work.

Worst part is that I pulled the old grommets as soon as I got the first new ones in, and I really only needed the head guard. Looks like it may be time to start up bcart's Grommet Chop Shop...

The grommet game is ridiculous. I feel your pain. Good luck.

Too bad the racket companies don't treat consumers better in this regard, but we are suckers for their game I guess.

Irvin 02-18-2013 07:11 AM

Racket manufacturers want you to buy new rackets not grommets.

yes, i know. at least HEAD does a decent job with this, i guess....

Irvin 02-18-2013 07:16 AM

Wilson has been making different rackets in almost identical molds for a long time. Truth be known it may be the same molds.

There is one place I usally go to, but they want $9.99 a grommet sometimes.

BTW the grommets you are looking for an nCode 6.1 Tour 90?

There are a few on fleabay. There is one shop in San Diego that seems to always have the grommets I need.

esgee48 02-18-2013 10:33 AM

3 viable options:

1) Chop one up so that it fits
2) Da Bay
3) T . . . . . M e n a c e in Deluth, Ga.

Since you appear to be in Ga, may want to give them folks a call since TW/Wilson does not have them.

Why is Jolly appearing in this thread? Is it his racquet?

Better change your tone son.

What's It Worth?

I think Jolly is trying to tell you he has some.

So, whaddaya got for him?

Seriously, my experience with Wilson so far confirms what Irvin said. There are many racquets they made using a common mold, so a grommet set may exist listed for a different 90 series that will work.

The n is different. The k and blx 1&2 are all the same drill pattern.

The 'Bay has squat, unless searching "90 grommet" in Tennis is doing it wrong.

Irvin, the molds may be the same but the drillings are different.

I emailed TheM-e-n-a-c-e a while back about some Fischer grommets. He offered to make a set for $50. I paid half that for the racquet that needed them. I'll email him anyway.

Jo11yroger, of course I love you.

I found at least 4 grommet sets for the "nCode 6.1 Tour 90". The lowest one for $7.99.

bcart1991 02-18-2013 11:26 AM

Link me, because it's not coming up for me (I copy/pasted your search terms in the Tennis category). I've found a couple BLX sets and a PST 90 set.

That said, anyone need some BLX or BLX2 90 grommets?

JoeR 02-18-2013 12:37 PM

I'm thinking Jolly has the treasure you seek.
