Tiffani: Donnay Formula 100/ ProKennex Q5 295

I read here that Tiffanie plays these...

Any chance you could post a comparison of the 2? Ive read the f100 tw review, curious how the q5 compares and the differences in comfort between the 2. I have the q5 demo now, it feels good but the demo also has full multi, which i would not be using in the real world. (would go poly/multi). Is their a substantial difference in comfort in the 'kinetic' system vs donnay xenecore. Ive had some elbow in the past, play daily and am wanting to stick with one of these long term.
(using a volkl powerbridge 7 currently)

Thanks!

Sure, I'll give it a go. Just as a side note, I haven't hit a tennis ball in a bit, maybe a month or so, because I'm just too pregnant these days. However, I've hit both of these quite a lot, and these were my go-to sticks before.

I don't have elbow issues, but I find them equally comfortable, albeit in different ways. The Q5 has a crisper feel off the stringbed but remains not jarring on the arm, I would guess due to the kinetic system. I also primarily play with full beds of multi in my own racquets, but I played a fairly crisp multi in that one last and again found it be comfortable at all times.

The Formula 100 has a more muted, dampened feel. I've hit this one more extensively than the Q5 just because it's been around much longer. I've hit full beds of poly, hybrids and full multi string jobs without any issues. It has a high stiffness rating but it doesn't have that jarring sensation that many racquets with high RAs have.

Thanks,
Tiffani, TW

awesome, thanks! tough choices. Did you keep the stock grip on the pk? it feels puffy if that makes sense, with a tourna og, it feels bigger than other 4 3/8s i have.

TW Staff 02-25-2013 12:37 PM

Yes, I left the stock grip on. I think I will switch it out for something thinner, too. I played with the 4 3/8 (the one I use is our "tester") and prefer the 4 1/4. I think a thinner grip should help with the grip size because it doesn't feel too out of line with other 3/8 grips.

congrads Tiffani. You must not like sleep very much.

Haha, the few hours I get are golden. I have to say I'm not sure I'm ready yet for another round of sleepless nights. I got through once, and I will get through it again. On the upside, I might be able to tell you what is on the Tennis Channel at 3 a.m.

Tennis Channel, almost forgot it existed:). My two kids have "taken possesion" of the large tv and cartoons are "omniprescent". I have to see tennis after 10 pm, recorded, on the small tv or maybe if its a ATP final they will give me a break, just maybe...

thanks Tiff! good luck, keep takin the vitamins.

Any other testers able to compare the comfort on these against my current volkl PB7? Any discernible difference?
