Does this mean we can bring our rackets onto the plane ?

"Passengers also will be allowed to bring onboard as part of their carry-on luggage novelty-sized baseball bats less than 24 inches long, toy plastic bats, billiard cues, ski poles, hockey sticks, lacrosse sticks and two golf clubs, the agency said. The policy goes into effect on April 25 (2013)."

So I take it if hockey sticks and golf clubs are legal, then tennis rackets should be permitted also.

What do you guys think? It would be awesome to not have to pay 50 bucks to check in my rackets.

I've never checked my rackets in the past five years ?

In over 42 years of flying with my sticks I have ONLY had to check them in/out of Australia (and that's only fairly recent) - never had issues anywhere else and I fly with my sticks about 35 times per year.

how many do you bring along? 2 - 4 ? how do you pack them and where do you store them on board? I never want to deal with them so at best i pack two in the big luggage i put on the plane. Do tennis tips tell :)

I always fly with three racquets. I have never once had to check them. I store them in the overhead bin. They fit very nicely there.

If you pack them in with your luggage you run the risk of someone slipping them out of your luggage or if not packed properly the frame being broken. Have you never seen how they throw the bags?
