James Blake is BACK!

Did anyone see him beat Tsonga and also Harrison and Benneteau in Miami? This guy is playing lights out tennis, sharp, exact, potent lethal tennis, pretty close to vintage Blake. Harrison looked very good vs. Rafa and Benneteau beat Fed recently. Blake just steamrolled them both.

We see the resurgence of Tommy Haas getting back to top 20 at age 34, it looks like James Blake is far from finished and if he keeps it up he will get to the top 20 also as he doesn't have any points to protect.

Very impressed by Blake's form.

Hats off to Blakey I really didn't see a way back for him but he's been playing great this year and playing some great attacking tennis! He is a talented player and a good guy so it would be awesome if he can make a push to the top 20!

Power Player 03-23-2013 10:24 AM

I hope somehow this happens. He is easily my favorite current player.

definitely has a chance of a good run in miami now! hope he does.

Yes but James didn't beat Tsonga there or here I think that was Mikes point!

Tsonga is about to beat Troicki right now ... and actually Tsonga did beat Blake in Wells last week

Yes, Blake hasn't beaten Tsonga anywhere. The OP made an error.

Happy to see him doing well. I saw the scorelines and I thought "Fluke?" when he beat Harrison. Then I saw that he'd beat Benneteau -- who, after all, beat Roger recently (and yes, I know JB beat Roger in 2008 in his run for that Olympic gold) -- and I thought "Serious fluke?"

Hope he keeps surprising us! Where are you watching? When does he play next?

Blake may have a good draw. It's possible that he may be able to make the quarters which is Ferrer's section. If he can get through there, it'll be Djokovic in the semifinals. No chance for Blake there.

Don't see him beating Ferrer, but he's probably the favorite to get to the QF. That's a pretty good result. Should get him back up around 60 in the world or so.

Indeed, they are in different halves of the draw too.

If there's any place that Ferrer is susceptible to an upset, it would be here and against a power player like Blake. On these courts.

Relinquis 03-23-2013 10:44 PM

Are you guys really surprised that Blake has beaten Harrison? He's a much better player.

I love it that Blake is doing well. He had a few tough draws earlier in the year, but has been playing solid, aggressive tennis.

Why here, on very slow hard courts? He has only lost before the fourth round once since 2005.

I prefer Blake hype to Gulbis hype

THESEXPISTOL 03-24-2013 07:05 AM

Blake is easily the most "made" personally on pro tennis.
If he wasn't American he would be a nobody.

I dislike Blake due to what happened in Beijing. I hope he loses.

You mean when Gonzo touched the ball and denied it? Which cost James as Olympic medal?
