*Facepalm* Dimitrov folds again

I got back from work. Watch the live scores. Whoa. Dimitrov up 5-2 vs Murray. I turn to the live stream. And I watch him double fault the set away. palm mets face. I shake my head and switch to watching a depressing soap.

Wrong section pal. This should be in the "Match Update" section.

**Facepalm**

Dimitrov...

... in order to be one of the greatest, you have to do more than imitate.

Russeljones 03-25-2013 02:19 PM

Double faulting records anyone?

albatros_forehand 03-25-2013 03:31 PM

5-2 but still only 1 break up. Not such a surprise or breakdown to lose this set in TB.

forzamilan90 03-25-2013 04:51 PM

Missed the match...but from what I read.....SIGH

MonkeyBoy 03-25-2013 04:56 PM

He's been very impressive this year. Has pushed Djokovic and has pushed Murray in two matches only to mentally faultier. He'll get it eventually.

It is a bad habit.

- Up first set 5-2 against Murray in Brisbane, loses 6-7 (0)
- Up first set 5-2 against Djokovic in IW, loses 6-7 (4)
- Up first set 5-2 against Murray in Miami, loses 6-7 (3)

All just from this year.
Problem is the way he is losing them, becoming a double fault machine when serving for the set the last couple of times and giving it away. Must get over it eventually though.

Fed's resilience after tough losses or losses where he had the upper hand and messed it up is a great character of his. He bounces back. If Dimitrov can somehow inspire such traits in his game, good things will happen.

Surely Grigor must fluke one of these matches eventually? :( Then get enough confidence enough from the wins not to choke ? :-D

But with 2 set points on Murray's serve to win the set 6-2.

FedExpress17 03-25-2013 06:42 PM

You cant rely on winning set points on your opponents serve though :(

Dude I had almost the exact same thing. I didn't look at the score first but I just turned on the stream, knowing they should be playing. Dimitrov was up 5-3 and it was setpoint (on murray's serve). I really thought he would win it.. I thought it would be impossible to have the same thing happen to him in Miaimi as in IW but obviously he pulled it off

dimitrov has an exciting game to watch. yes its federesque and thats not a bad thing.

if the errors drop and percentage tennis rises he will be very dangerous. 21y 10mos old??? lots of time to sharpen his game.

Baby Fed is still very much a baby. Has he won anything, any remotely significant title?

Relinquis 03-26-2013 02:16 AM

mentally weak... he needs to fight more. not only is choking a big problem, he seems to give up after losing a tight set. Just like Tomic does.

He definitely had more fight than Tomic had the round earlier.

yes, but only marginally so...

dannysul 03-26-2013 06:00 AM

Got to see this live... Was surprised a little how Murray kept his cool when he dug himself that first set hole. No cursing/talking to his box, pretty much just went about his business like he knew Dimitrov would fold when the pressure was on. Dimitrov is impressive though and could do some damage if he gets his head together on the big points.
