Is Querrey using APD Crotex or GT?

and I seriously doubt its APD 2013 :)

*meant to type Cortex instead of Crotex in the title

Is there ever a way of being able to tell the difference between the two models, assuming either is painted to look like the newest version?

So he actually switched to 2013, wow! Is it still regular length (even though he advertise a plus version)?

gavna 04-13-2013 11:45 AM

Dunno about the length but he does have the 2013 active cortex on it.

Wasn't his old stick a Prince?

gavna 04-13-2013 12:30 PM

There is no "cortex or GT" - all the APDs have Cortex AND GT.......

Querrey is playing with the new APD and it has the GT and Cortex like what u get in the shops........he also leads up at the inside of his frame along the grommets - at least 5in worth.

In this version http://www.tennis-warehouse.com/desc...bab-bapdc.html
and all older versions, GT was never mentioned.

Saw him at davis cup and looked like a retail apd with lead and probably silicone. His forehand was unreal

Thanks bro. Check out the picture where you can see the inside of the handle, that proves that its not the 2013 version :)

Here http://tt.tennis-warehouse.com/showt...&highlight=apd you can see how new looks like (the space is not split anymore).

Those pics are from a thread that was back in May 2012-- well BEFORE the new 2013 APD was released.

He now appears to play the new version.

Hey why don't you look up at Getty Images pics of Querrey at DC last week - TONS of views of the stick and you can CLEARLY SEE the Cortex and the lead tape. He is using the new 2013 APD / and yes it had both Cortex and the GT fibers.

gavna 04-13-2013 02:59 PM

Some of his sticks were sent to Houston ahead of him before he defaulted. Saw 4 frames and all were brand new unstrung 2013 APDs with lead - 4 total strips inside the frame on the sides. Stock grips and the active cortex.

That's the version from what 2007-2008 2nd generation APD before the GT was applied?
Jeez why would you think that's what he uses ? Querrey used Prince until switching to Babolat after 2011.

Nikae 04-13-2013 10:40 PM

Thanks gavna and others, and sorry for so many questions, I just had to make sure :)

For some reason I thought that no pro would use such a stiff racket, but I guess silicon in the handle solves the problem. Now, time to search the forums on how to inject the silicon properly.

I don't use silicone very often, ever since I learned that Blue-Tac / Sticky Tac does the same job weight wise as silicone. Plus it's way easier to remove! :)

All the players that were using the old cortex are now using the new active cortex. Babolat is not paintjobbing the new cortex over the old cortex. Apart from that, the frames remain the same.
